An excellent, practically helpful and uplifting book teaching mainly Catholics - and also other Christians - the reality and activity of Satan, and the weapons in their spiritual arsenal which can be used in their battle against demons. It is written by a US Catholic priest Fr Steffon, though apparently not an exorcist priest. Although it does not have an Imprimatur or a Nihil Obstat from a Catholic bishop it seems to be faithful to Catholic teaching (though as a lay Catholic I do not have the authority or knowledge to guarantee this).

Fr Steffon hits the right spot several times in this book: he not only describes the problems demons / Satan can cause but also uplifts the reader in sections on faith, our heavenly helpers, our weapons for the battle, and the ultimate victory of Jesus over Satan which is the most important point in the end. The "Our Weapons for Battle" chapter is mainly focussed on prayer - especially deliverance prayer and prayers to Mary + the angels, including a copy of the great prayer The Chaplet of St Michael and a few other relevant prayers - all of which can be used directly by Christian believers. There is not much on (a) different types of extraordinary demonic influence (e.g. affliction/oppression vs. full possession) or on (b) the details of "formal" exorcism by an exorcist priest (i.e. exorcism using the Ritual which incorporates the intercession of the Catholic Church). For more on (a) and (b), see the books by the Catholic exorcist priests J.A. Fortea ("Interview with an Exorcist") and Gabriele Amorth ("An Exorcist tells his Story" and "An Exorcist: More Stories"). This is a minor complaint, however, considering how helpful, uplifting and "spot on" this book is.

Chapters are: 1. Faith; 2. Is Satan Real? 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Spiritual Warfare Books I've Ever Read! 17 April 2000
By Jasper T. Suquila - Published on Amazon.com
As a Catholic Charismatic, I have been blessed to read a lot of books on the topic of spiritual warfare, but mostly they were written by our Protestant brothers. Though the Lord has given me valuable and enlightening insights on spiritual warfare based on these books, I just can't sometimes relate with spiritual warfare in the Catholic tradition. Spiritual Warfare for Catholics is the best book I have ever read on the topic!Written from the perspective of the Catholic Church, the author Fr. Steffon was able to delineate powerful principles and write an excellent introduction on spiritual warfare in the lives of every Catholic which is primarily based from Scriptures, gleaned from his years of clinical and pastoral experience in the field, providing valuable insights from the lives of saints and Church teaching which greatly helped me see the essential role of spiritual warfare in the lives of Catholics and its place in the Catholic Church.I appreciate the way Fr. Steffon relates the liturgy and most of all, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as great reservoirs of God's protective grace in routing the influence of the enemy and frustrating the powers of darkness in our lives.I love especially the topic on the power of intercession made by the saints and also on the power of the Precious Blood, which radically changed my life. If you are a Catholic who wants to see God's blessings flow mightily in one's life, and hungers for a deeper and more intimate relationship with God, I highly recommend this book which I believe will tremendously change your life, see your place in God's wonderful plan, and realize our authority as God's children and ultimately restore the things the devil stole which is rightfully and originally ours from the beginning! Claiming the blessings of God, restoring God's plans for our lives and defeating the evil purposes of the devil are powerfully written in this God-sent book. This is surely to be a classic on Spiritual Warfare in the perspective and teachings of the Catholic Church! Thanks Father Jeffrey! Thanks for letting us know the wonderful privileges and gifts which we enjoy as children of God!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb! 20 Mar 2010
By R. Cruz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
There are few Books on Spiritual Warfare that are written specifically for Catholics. I appreciate that the author took time to write this book for Catholics. It is well-grounded and easy to follow. The author just shows you how real is the battle being waged against humanity by Satan and his minions.... but we know that we have a more powerful God.thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful handbook and summary of 'how to' in deliverance ministry from Evil 8 Oct 2013
By Barbara Streets - Published on Amazon.com
Fr. Steffon presents a good and 'accessible' handbook with personal experiences and examples of how to fight off Evil in many different forms, and how to keep persistent temptations and evil attacks from pulling us away from our Savior, Jesus Christ. I found it to be a good compilation of the previous 5 authors I read this year on Deliverance ministry from many different traditions.
