The Belgian Synthesist Vidna Obmana has relesed many C.D's with music I like to call Spiritual Ambient, his music is slow moving and flowing, thick synthesised sound move slowly like clouds or slow flowing water, it's calming and meditative to listen to this music and like all Good Ambient music you can ignore it and use it as a comfortable background, But you can also listen to it with attention and not get dissapointed or bored, because the compositions are well structured and despite the superficial sameness, underneath there is great variety both in instrumentation, sound colour and compositional structure.
I think this is one of Obmanas best C.D's, on it he playes on synthesisers, didgeridoo and percussion and there is colaboration from Steve Roach and Robert Rich both excellent Ambient composers too.
I have often put this C.D. in my player and put the player on repeat and listened to this disk the whole day long or even let it play on low volume during the night, I don't seem to get bored with it.
This music has in my opinion a spiritual quality to it, it's there in the thick smooth sounds the slow flowing compositions and beneath the surface little things are going on which you don't notice unless you listen carefully, all this creates a mysterious atmosphere, now I know it is very difficullt to define spirituality and even more difficult to explain how thoughts and emotions can be expressed in music, but to my ears this music has that quality, I hear it also in Carlos Santanas guitar tone or the Japanese Zen influenced Sakuhachi music and Chinese Taoist influenced Qin music or the music of Johann Sebastian Bach or The voice and music of Stevie Wonder from the 70's and the Sitar playing of Ravi Shankar, Its a certain Depth, Calmness and Harmony as you might find in nature and it's in abundance on Obmanas CD the Spiritual Bonding.
Also highly recomended are his Echoing delight and The Well of Souls.

one piece of advice to any of you vidna /ambient/e-music fans.if you want to hear this music and also own it on cd, but are not willing to part with anything over £15, i.e. a prudent collector, then may i suggest you buy the compilation of 3 of vidna's earlier work. which, suprise, suprise, contains most of this album and its remastered too.by buying, on amazon, the superb collection called " the subterranean collective"this has most,if not all,of the tracks from this album, as well as 2 other of vidna ealier rare albums.refer to the actual cd for more details.
now that is the way to get to hear the music,so is it worth even buying the cheaper collection?the simple answer is yes, this is a lovely ambient album,no industrial noises or ethnic polyrhythms, just pure synth passages together with vidna's wonderful overtone sounds.
so if you are a completist, like me,then you have to shell out all this dosh ,but if you are wondering what the music is actually like then buy the subteranean collective instead and get two other vidna albums included for the price of one.
your choice,guys/gals.

A must own for those seeking quality ambience 1 Dec 2004

This is my first Vidna Obmana album, and I must say I was blown away by the sheer genious of the songwriting.

Having R Rich and S Roach as guests made it even very enjoying.

I am an avid Ambient / Electronic fan and I must say that this album is in a world of its own.

It is the perfect 'relax' disc after a hard day of work. There are electronic synthesizer patterns that I hear Steve Wilson ( Headphone dust label ) do w his project Bass Communion - especially the first album. I haven t found many maestros capable of manipulating the synthesizaers and other electronic elements to make the music we hear on this record, and on Wilson s first Bass Communion ( which I also strongly recommend ).

And the titles chosen for the music are very appropriate.
