I was really pleased to see this one from this author, as I have been following her progress through this series. The books have been original, insightful, and extremely useful in my own practice of magic.
I also admire the way she comes out and tells the readers that she is a chaos magician in this one, as I have seen the vitriol that some of the fluffy wiccan types have toward this description, without understanding what its about. The way this author handled an unprovoked attack at a talk she did in Chelmford recently without getting rattled really gained my respect.
The author clearly knows what she is doing, in more realms than many people ever investigate. I for one will continue to collect everything she produces.
This volume has given me new perspective on the world of spirit, and how it related to the four elements of matter and the spiritual essences that we think of as nature spirits. Clearly a required read.

I wondered what sort of elementals the author might have saved for the fifth element, and was well impressed with the way the elementals of the world of spirit fit in with the whole picture. I recommend this whole series to anyone who works with real spiritual entities in magick. The connections made between our own spiritual nature and that of the other entities of nature really gives some food for thought for those with eyes to see.

Wow - The 5th book in the series has finally made it out here to australia and is fantastic!
I've now got 7 hawkins books, each of them special and inspiring in their own way. If you can get the Spirits series, do so now and you'll be well on your way to playing with the fairies in the bottom of your garden and out in the woods.
