More About the Author

Jane Alexander is a UK-based journalist and author of over twenty non-fiction titles in the fields of wellbeing, natural health and Mind Body Spirit. She has monthly columns in several UK magazines, often appears on television and radio and is quoted in the press as an expert on natural health and alternative spirituality. She has also ghosted several books for celebrity authors.

Jane's blog, Diary of a Desperate Exmoor Woman (http://exmoorjane.blogspot.com) has a large and enthusiastic following and was shortlisted for the Author Blog Awards. She tweets as @exmoorjane and is active on social media platforms.

Jane grew up in a family which was fascinated by natural forms of wellbeing and the arcane. She learned tarot and yoga from the age of seven and went on to study Kabbalah, herbalism, homeopathy and flower remedies from her teens. She has also trained in past life therapy, shamanism and SHEN.

Jane has a very down-to-earth and pragmatic approach to spirituality and wellbeing. She insists she is no "guru" (despite often being given the label). 'I'm afraid I don't always practice what I preach,' she admits ruefully. 'We live in a busy, crazy world and few people have the time to devote their lives to perfection. So don't beat yourself up. I think making even small changes, little shifts, can make a huge difference. Do what you can and dump the guilt.'

Jane is married (to beer writer Adrian Tierney-Jones, editor of 1001 Beers you Must Taste Before you Die) with a young son and two ridiculous dogs.
They live on Exmoor, a wild and beautiful part of the UK, a place of myth, magic and brooding intensity - an inspiration for her work.

Jane is now turning her hand to writing teen fiction - calling on her knowledge of the arcane and a very clear memory of being sixteen. Her novels blend supernatural romance, horror and edgy realism.

Product Description

From the Back Cover

Whether you live in a large house or a single room, it can become a haven and refuge from this stressful world. Our ancestors honoured the home as a sacred space which provided protection and peace; we too can reawaken this sense of spirit in our home, and turn it into a sanctuary which can heal the body, calm the mind and soothe the soul.

'Spirit of the Home' will show you what your living space says about you and your life – and whether it reflects what you really need. It explains how you can let your home help you live the life you really want – physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The whole process is simple and fun. You will find out how to:
• Arrange your home to help you attract love, success, energy and wealth
• Use colour, sound and light for health and harmony
• Use feng shui to improve the quality of your life
• Clear clutter – painlessly – and simplify your space
• Find a ‘space of your own’ in which to relax and be renewed.

'Spirit of the Home' is a book about transformation. It will inspire you to look at your home – and yourself – in a whole new light.

I wish there were more books like this! It doesn't matter if you don't believe in spirits or lares or sunlight... just follow the simple tips and you and your house will notice the difference. Not really a Feng Shui book (although it follows Feng Shui principles) but a simple and very inspiring book about the kind of suggestions that'll make immediate sense to you and are rooted in our own tradition. I really loved it!

I LOVED this book! I have read a lot about feng shui and space clearing - and also about home decoration - but this book beats the whole bunch. The author goes way beyond the usual "choose this colour", "rearrange your furniture" etc and looks at the psychology and mythology of home as well as how to make your home a comfortable, sensual retreat. She also explains how to use your home to bring you more love, wealth and luck. Not bad from one book. I devoured it in one sitting, carried out loads of her suggestions and - wow, things happened!!! I found myself in a new (wonderful) relationship and also was offered a new job. Coincidence? I don't think so. It also made me really think about where I live and why. I am now considering a move - my present home is not, I realise, my "soul" home. So thank you Jane Alexander - and I would honestly recommend anyone who wants to get the most out of their home - and themselves, to read this wonderful book!

I've read so many books about interior decor, Feng Shui, space clearing, etc., etc. - but this book covers all aspects of making your home a true haven for body, mind and spirit. It is not only inspiring to read but beautiful to look at. Jane Alexander gives many tips which are easy to carry out without a great deal of expense. I can personally vouch for the fact that if you follow her advice, you will notice the difference in the atmosphere of your home - and so will your visitors. This lovely book makes a perfect gift, particularly for someone who needs their spirits boosting, or is contemplating decorating their home, or perhaps moving house. Only trouble is that if you buy it for someone else, you'll probably be tempted to keep it for yourself!
