Moon Sand - Pet Shop My 4 year old son saw the adverts in the telly and spent his birthday money buying his own moon sand set. He loves it and so does his six year old brother!

The two colours of sand that came in the kit did end up mixed together quite quickly and there is a certain amount lost into the hoover every time they have it out, but they were both able to get the sand shapes out of the moulds once I'd shown them how to squeeze the mould as in the instructions.You can also get refill sets of sand for when too much disappears down the hoover.

Both of my sons want more moon sand for Christmas so it's a definite hit in my house, but perhaps the age should be 4+ rather than 3+.

...the moulds are just too small and detailed. My kids had fun packing the sand into the moulds, but then couldn't get the models out in one piece. A cat's tail which remains resolutely stuck in the mould quickly becomes frustrating for small children and mummy has to put "Heat" down and step into the breach with a pointy cocktail stick to try to tease the offending bit out. It does tidy up well though.

The advert makes it look so much fun and so easy to play with!!! After 10 minutes with the stuff my daughter was calling it stupid sand as it didn't mold or stick together in anyway you could play with. It is basically coloured sand that goes everywhere and most of ours has now gone up the hoover. The rest is never coming out again!!!
