The most over-marketed product around at the moment. This stuff is being heavily pushed on children's TV, and sadly my six-year-old persuaded his grandmother to buy this set for his birthday.

But
(i) the sand comes in little polythene bags - no other way of storing it, so when you've played with it once, good luck to you.
(ii) the sand (of course) just mixes together and looks pretty ugly once it has. This is bound to happen after the first time you've played with it.
(iii) you have to use considerable force to push the sand into the molds before trying to get the shape out. 80% of the time the shapes will collapse when you try to get them out - even more often if you're under 10. Disappointing. This doesn't happen with other modelling toys.
(iv) the picture is _so_ misleading. Frankly, unless they just happen to be artistic prodigies, there is no way that the kids in the advert made those shapes.
(v) this stuff is _so_ expensive! Please please buy lego - paints - playdough - books - ANYTHING else. It will be better value for money.

Just read the reviews about this moonsabd.
I have 3 daughters and they love playing with it. They got it from Father Christmas and love making different shapes and bashing them up and re-making them.
Yes, the 1st time you play it the sand gets mixed up and goes a different colour but i have found that happens with play dough so not too much of a problem there.
It does not stain and if you spill it on the floor you can hoover it up no problem.
Yes i would recommend it to anyone and i have since got some for my goddaughter and she loves playing with it as does her sister so yes get some.

My daughters were absolutely desperate for moon sand for christmas so santa obliged and I have never been so disappointed in a toy.
It is advertised as sand that moulds and shows children playing with the things they have made but it is totally misleading, although my 4 year old has managed to make a few shapes you just can't touch them or they break apart.
The sand all mixed up because it's impossible to keep it seperate in the case so now looks really messy. My 2 girls enjoyed having it out but it was so messy, they couldn't play with what they had made and it all seems a bit pointless really.
I definately would not recommend this product, huge waste of money and far too expensive. I will be sticking with play doh, plasticine and lego from now on and moon sand will never see the light of day again!!
