Unfortunately dark/horror fiction anthologies seem to be few and far between these days (and most of those are collections of long established writers in the field), so it's nice to see a well put together collection of tales by people who are (relatively) starting out. Though I wasn't a fan of every story here (my own highlights being F.R Jameson's `Wilderness', James Brook's `Dead Famous', Charlotte Bond's `The Wild Hunt' and Geoff Ward's superb `The Country Gent'), they are diverse enough to appeal to individual tastes. The foreword by Nolene-Patricia Dougan is also very encouraging to aspiring/beginning writers (and highlights some of the unfortunate truths of the publishing world!) So highly recommended, with 4/5 stars because again not every tale appealed to me...but that's just my own individual tastes of course!

and for the Kindle price, you can't be robbed. The stories are all quite varied, so there should be something for everyone in there (obviously, that's provided you like horror in the first place). I'd definitely recommend!

Fabulous anthology of horror and fantasy... 14 Nov 2009

Horror anthologies have been scant this year and I bought this last years' collection not knowing what to expect. Well, what a pleasant surprise. The stories are B+ to A, fresh and interesting. The best for me, "The Wild Hunt," where the veil between the living and dead is ripped open on the winter solstice. Tried to find another Spinetinglers on the Kindle, but unfortunately none. Highly recommended.

A nicely diverse collection of no-apologies dark fiction... 29 Sep 2009

If only they were all like this 17 April 2010
By John E. Poulin - Published on Amazon.com

Wow, finally someone gets it right. Unlike those other books that claim to be the "scariest" or filling up pages with second or third rate stories to make the book bigger this one actually lives up to its name. A nice solid collection of stories all well written by lesser known authors that are far better than the schlock some of those Big Name Authors are passing off as horror nowadays. Well worth the price of the Kindle edition. An enjoyable read from start to finish.
