Review

'Fans of Maeve Binchy should check out the warm hearted, good humoured delights if a McInerney story like this one... Smashing fun' --Peterborough Evening Telegraph --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

Lainey Byrne is a master at controlled chaos, juggling her hectic, demanding job, her chef boyfriend with his crazy hours, and her roiling family with all its daily dramas. But her life truly threatens to spin out of control when her aunt May, who owns a B&B in Ireland, passes away. In order for the Byrnes to collect their inheritance, someone from the family must take over Aunt May’s business for a year. And apparently that someone is Lainey.

Between running a run-down, virtually guest-free B&B (without the slightest ability to cook or clean), worrying about her family from afar, adjusting to country life, and dealing with the complications of long-distance love, Lainey is in way over her head. But when a reunion with a (gorgeous) childhood friend sparks unexpected complications, Lainey realizes that fate may have another path for her–a direction she never imagined. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I was recently given this book as a gift and was looking forward to a good read from this author. I was therefore very disappointed to find that it was an earlier book called Spin the Bottle, which I had already read. Be warned - This renaming of books is happening far too often!

Double indemnity 11 Feb 2010

This story took a different view on life in how one "happening" within a large family can affect other members.
This involves one member sacrificing their life for one year to help other members of the family.
Unfortunately I purchased this book not realising that a book titled "Greetings from somewhere else" given me to me as a present for Christmas is the same book as that entitled "Spin the Bottle". It would have been good if I could have read the in depth summary of the story whilst considering whether to purchase it.

However, I enjoyed the story very much and really like the way this author intertwines the stories with the lives and the characters involved. Monica McInerney csn get inside peoples head and character very well which enhances the story.
