Doric is such a broad dialect, that it is almost a language in itself. Whilst this book isn't a comprehensive introduction to how to speak Doric, it is like having a small dictionary of many of the current words and phrases. There is a wry sense of humour throughout, the literal translation isn't always given, so much as what the phrase is used for. Native speakers will have identified a couple of other meanings, and further nuances in the meaning which the book doesn't explain. That said, this means that the book had my giggling and laughing for an evening.

Delivery was swift. Purchased to give as a gift to a work mate now living in the North East. I was a bit dismayed when the book arrived as it wasn't quite what I'd hoped, I didn't have the time to buy another Doric book however, so had to gift this one, saying that it was well received.
