About the Author
Maxine Ventham first met Spike Milligan many years ago when she organised a convention at which he was a special guest. She was suffering from a particularly bad bout of depression at the time and this, combined with her love of comedy, meant that she and Spike had a lot in common, so a friendship developed. Since then, she has been to stay with Spike and his wife many times and they have shown her tremendous kindness and affection.

The book is a selection of anecdotes about Spike Milligan from a variety of people who met him. I enjoyed it. Some were written before, some after, his death.
Most remembered his kindness and generosity. And his rudeness and sometimes incomprehensible jokes. My favourite "Why are we having rice pudding?" "Because it's Lent, Spike" "So, do we have to give it back then?" Many, like myself, remember loving the Goon Show as children and how our parents were baffled by it! I got it in hardback for £[] from an Amazon merchant. Money well spent!
