Still Marvels highest grossing film, 2002s Spiderman is a fun, colourful and exciting comic book film - one I dreamt of seeing as a child.
Tobey Maguire is a great Peter Parker and Sam Raimi's direction is solid, the action scenes are very well handled.
Revisiting Spiderman, its still a very enjoyable and likeable film BUT...
Green Goblins outfit...I still haven't forgiven the producers for it. Its so wrong and cheap looking, and during fight scenes it cheapens the feel of the film and at times looks like an episode of Power Rangers.
The CGI...I hate people judging a film by its effects work, they should treat it as a product of the time, but even in 2002, the CGI wasn't good enough, and still isn't. Especially during scenes with Spiderman in his first appearance outfit, and Peter getting to grips with his new abilities.
I'll always have fond memories of this film, and its a little dated, but still great escapism, avoiding the 'darkness' of alot of other comic book movies. I'd recommend this for fans of any age.
