Great buy 9 Jun 2011
This was a great purchase and have been happy with seeing this series that brought back memories for me. If you were from the 80's time and watched the show then this is a purchase for you well worth the money. Thank You for releasing this all three seasons on DVD.

If you want an exacting version of the show with every bell and whistle then don't get this.

If you want a nostalgia hit for a well remembered kids TV show then this is the DVD set for you.

As the first reviewer points out it's a slightly different version but if you haven't seen it in 25 years then I doubt you notice a slight bit of difference besides the odd superfluous Stan Lee lines cut.

Other than that you can just enjoy them.

Like my Review On The 1982 Incredible Hulk Cartoon - Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends Season 2-3 1982/83 Originally Aired In The Same One Hour Show. I Give The series 5 stars but if I had a choice, I would give this DVD Release Zero Stars. Just so you know this DVD is exactly the same is Liberation's 2008 DVD release which I own.

US FANS SHOULDN'T BE MADE OR HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ALL THESE EDITED SYNDICATED VERSIONS WHICH RUINS THE QUALITY. SO LETS NOT BUY THIS DVD RELEASE WHICH WILL HOPEFULLY GO INTO CLEAR VISION'S FUTURE PROFILE AND MAKE THEM GET ORIGINAL MASTER COPIES OR FORCE WHO THEY GET THEIR MASTER COPIES FROM TO HUNT FOR THE ORIGINALS.

It Was NEW WORLD in 1987 after taking over from ARP FILMS who Sued Marvel in 1986 & Re-Mastered all of Marvel's old work but edited them as well. NEW WORLD Cut Too Many Stan Lee Commercial Cliffhanger Scenes Out Of The Main 1982-1983 Segments. 1981 Of The Amazing Spider-Man/Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends - were produced as original half an hour shows plus were voiced and animated to make the actual characters tell the story through the whole show in every episode. But 1982-1983 Of Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends Season 2-3 and The Incredible Hulk 1982 segments - were for starters produced to be part of two separate one hour shows including (THE INCREDIBLE HULK AND THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN SEASON 2 1982 ON NBC)(THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN AND THE INCREDIBLE HULK SEASON 3 1983 ON NBC) and not only that but they were also not fully voiced or animated to have the characters telling the story to the viewers because Stan Lee Started Narrating the show in 1982/83. REMEMBER YOUNG KIDS SHOWS WHERE CHARACTERS NEVER TALK, IT'S THE NARRATOR WHO TALKS AND TELLS THE STORY OF THE PICTURES THE VIEWERS CAN SEE ON SCREEN: Well certain scenes of the actual 1982/83 cartoon segments were produced just like that. EXAMPLE: I Own the Liberation DVDS, Specifically in EPISODE(Along Came Spidey)Which I remember as a kid where Stan Lee Narrated the start of the cartoon segment it's self which he doesn't on Liberation's DVD. The scene of animation is silent with no one talking or doing any action because it was produced to have Stan Lee telling viewers what is about to happen. The same with the commercial gaps because in production they deliberately didn't animated or voice character telling some parts of the 1982/83 stories including cliffhangers because of Stan Lee narrating it which if Stan Lee Didn't narrate it like he didn't in first production or Marvel's 1981 Spider-Man cartoons in both series, they would have animated and voiced the characters telling the story like Marvel did in all their 1981 Spider-Man Cartoons. Also Season 2-3 Of Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends are missing the original opening and closing theme tunes from 1982-1983, they have replaced them with the same theme tunes as season 1 when the season 1 themes had scenes taken from season 1 segments like the season 2-3 themes had scenes taken from season 2-3 segments. Also they have moved the music out of place in the actual cartoon segments at the same time as deleting Stan Lee's Narrating because of the original one hour show version commercial bumper gaps which made them have to also delete music and move the remaining music out of place from it's original broadcast to make it sound right. WHICH ALL IN ALL MAKES THE STORY AND ENTERTAINMENT NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL DUE TO ALL THE EDITING AND DELETING FROM HOW THE STORY WAS PRODUCED AND ANIMATED TO BE TOLD INCLUDING MUSIC IN PLACE OF THE STORY'S BACKGROUND IN EVERY SCENE OF THE SHOW, WHICH I CAN'T LIVE WITH AND HATE ABOUT THIS DVD RELEASE LIKE LIBERATION'S DVD.

Season 1 1981 of Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends plus The Amazing Spider-Man are fully uncut and fine because they were animated, voiced and produced as 30 minute prime time shows anyway and for the actual characters to tell the story to the viewer in the whole show of every episode. But because all of Marvel's 1982/83 segments were produced In a completely opposite way - it made it impossible for them to be exactly the same in their own 30 minute prime time shows in the future - which is why when all the 1982/83 segments were Re-Mastered and Edited by NEW WORLD in 1987 after ARP FILMS Sue Marvel in 1986 - they had to edit them out of their original one hour show version format and do all the bad editing that I've already explained.

Officially in the United States, no Half An Hour Master Copies Were Created In Original First Production For The 1982/83 Season Episodes on NBC, they were shown and produced to be part of a one hour NBC Saturday Morning Show, because back in them days, videos and future use of productions was not part of the contract, which made them not worry about producing them otherwise.

The Only original 1982-83 half an hour Master Copies which I think is what this guy and the Spider-Friends site have 16MM Film versions of - were produced for international Syndication in places like the UK, which were more uncut than this DVD Release, as long as they are PRE 1987 Videos/16MM Films, but still have a few bits missing due to what I explained about NBC's Original One Hour Versions. I own Pre 1987 Incredible Hulk 1982 Cartoon videos which are ten times better than the DVD releases plus any 1988 onwards video releases. Because via to the most Un-Original Master Copies used now World Wide, just like this DVD release - in 1986 Marvel's Distributors(ARP Films, seen at the end of the credits in all PRE 1987 Versions) sued Marvel for not keeping to part of their agreement, due to their original distributors prophet agreement made in 1976 via cartoons they made before and after - which when Marvel Took Over Depatie Freleng's Studio in 1980/81 - Marvel made lots of third party agreements for series such as G.I. Joe/Transformers/Muppet Babies plus much more and released their own videos them self's without involving ARP Films now that Marvel Owned their own studio, but hadn't ended their contract with ARP Films - which went against their ARP Films contract and is why the Marvel Comics Video Library Collection Ended in 1986 with no more releases and when they started releasing new videos again in 1989 approx - they were the edited versions as seen on the UK DVD Releases which were(EDITED AND REMASTERED)in 1987 BY NEW WORLD who took over as the distributors for Marvel Animation, who in 1988 created new edited REMASTERED COPIES TO ALL OF MARVELS WORK MADE BEFORE THEY TOOK OVER AS DISTRIBUTORS, which since 1988/89 - we in the UK and other International countries haven't even had our PRE 1987 Versions used for public releases or TV any more which had a few scenes already cut out of the PRE 1987 One Hour NBC Versions, but now we are stuck with the worldwide fully edited NEW WORLD Master Copies, which have too much cut out that I've just explained.

This is the 48TH Most Demanded Un-Released on DVD Series in the USA, which I think is partly why it isn't available yet in the USA, due to fans wanting the originals which are lost at the moment.

DISNEY OWN THE DVDS RIGHTS IN THE USA, MEANING I THINK OUR ONLY HOPE IS THAT DISNEY IN THE USA, FIND THE ORIGINAL ONE HOUR NBC MASTER COPIES FOR FUTURE DVD RELEASES.
