I had this on my wish list for such a long time, but was disappointed by many of the worksheets in it. Having completed a Dyslexia (SpLD) Diploma where I had to learn to make my own worksheets, and learn how to tailor a worksheet for a particular child's needs I felt I also wanted a book with photocopiable pages to cut a few corners. This book heads off in the right direction with some assessments for spelling, and a rough guide to teaching spelling. However being american it has different ideas on pronunciation. This is also a problem in the UK with the North/South pronunciation of bath/barth and so I would offer a list of Short /a/ sounding words with anything contentious missing i.e. ask/fast/gasp and later explain how the pronunciation of these can differ. Also I would not include consonant blend words i.e. slam/stamp or those with both difficulties i.e. blast/clasp. Many children with dyslexia find beginning and end blends a real challenge and there is no point setting them up to fail with a seemingly random list of words when they already have spelling issues. In fairness to the author she doesn't claim her book is for those with dyslexia, but for teenager boys with spelling difficulties and does have a good range of games and ideas to try and engage disenfranchised learners with writing. The problem is the book could have been so much more. With the author having such an impressive list of educational qualifications I did expect better.
