5.0 out of 5 stars I love it 21 Jun 2012
I bought this last week. Music and audio books loaded up really easily - just plugged it into the PC and dragged files across.
Its got easier to use as I get used to it. You don't need to ram the ear plugs in too deep and it copes well with crawl, breast stroke, back stroke and side stroke.
The sound quality is good, above and below the water.I do occasionally get a bit of leakage when water gets in the ear, but if you pull out the ear phone and replace it the problem is solved. This only seems to occur when I dive down a bit too deep. Its great at the surface for normal strokes.

Best of all I'm not getting bored swimming. Since I bought it I have been swimming for over an hour a day, enjoying the audio book, and barely noticing the swimming. I used to get bored after maybe 40 minutes. Now I don't want to get out.

One great feature is that when you turn it off, it remembers where you stopped and automatically restarts there when you turn it back on. Perfect for audio books. This feature does not work if you change from MP3 track to radio then back again. You then have to fast forward to where you were. Having said this the fast forward function is super fast.

The radio is great too. The presets can be changed via the big forward and backward buttons while swimming. I like to listen to radio 4 occasionally if I go for a swim before work and its been brilliant.

Finally the charge seems to last well. 4 hrs swimming appears to use 2 bars out of 4.

I was worried about buying it after seeing mixed reviews. I'm so glad I bought it now.

And I've lost 2 lb this week which I put down to swimming!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not perfect but it's getting there.... 6 Feb 2012
Having previously bought two of the v1. aquabeats and being very disappointed to find that they broke after the first couple of uses I was dubious as to whether to spend more and try this one, however.....

I am incredibly glad that I did! I have had it about 6 months, using it 5 days a week and it is still working perfectly. There are still quite a few problems to sort out but it's worth the money unlike v1. and hopefully there will be a v3. out soon which will be even better!

Pros:
- Sound quality is good
- the clip is good for both goggles and swimming costumes
- Headphones stay in your ears well
- There is no chance of getting bored and you are motivated to swim longer!

Cons:
- adding music can be a little difficult, especially when bought of iTunes, and I seem to have a large amount of unknown format songs left on the mp3 now which I can't find to delete and they stop the continuous play of music, but it's not a huge problem.
- The controls can be quite difficult to begin with, but if you download the manual from the Speedo website you will soon be able to do it without looking.
- I have not quite worked out how to shuffle the songs, can be a tad repetitive
- My earphones broke just after 3 months, and they only have a 3 month warranty and replacement ones can be quite expensive

However, as previously stated, it is a great product, just not perfect! if you are really looking for something to make swimming laps a little more fun, then this is definitely worth it!!!

I purchased a speedo aquabeat because I am training for an endurance swimming event and thought that it would make training more interesting. It is well packaged - small and light. It is also relatively easy to upload MP3 / songs and quite intuitive to use. Unfortunately it is badly let down by the headphone, which I found unworkable. They occasionally fell out although this could be fixed by using a swimming hat. However what could not be fixed so easily was the sound coming and going. This created an annoying loud, quiet, no sound medley (excuse the swimming pun). I have since looked at other reviews and found that this is a bit of a theme. I would have been happy to experiment with the original headphones (from the previous version) if it was an option for these to be sent to me but unfortunately this did not appear to be an option and so I am returning the aquabeat - a real shame as this is very nearly a great product (a bit like having a really nice house somewhere in Northern Scotland but the house having no roof....keep working at it speedo).

p.s. I live in London, not Chicago

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product 5 Aug 2013

I would give this 5 stars if it has a "shuffle" function. I tend to shuffle the songs before adding to the player.
The heaphones are slightly awkward and I found without a swimming hat they would slowly come out. However, with a hat they never move and the sound quality is good. On the small occasion water makes its way in and muffles the sound, a quick shake of the ear part and it clears.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes swimming much less boring 20 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase
I thought about whether to get this one or the Aquabeat 1.. decided to spend the extra money and haven't regretted it. Makes length swimming much easier and much less tedious. The only downside is that I have very small ears (they really are small) so I've had to buy a cap to help keep them on. I found putting the earbuds quite easy (and I often find it hard with my small ears) but keeping them on has been the only challenge - I had to download the manual to work out how to load music on - it doesn't come with anything more than a quick start manual.. so just search for it and download and makes it all easy.
All in all am pleased and look forward to more music for my swims...

1.0 out of 5 stars Utterly frustrating
I have had this MP3 player for about a month and I can honestly say it is useless. For a start I turn the machine on to get it to play music and it keeps switching itself off. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Promised so much, but didn't quite deliver
The idea of this product is marvellous, listen to music while you swim. However in practice, as other people have mentioned, this product has so many issues going against it. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Too fiddly.
I bought the aquabeat 2 mainly for swimming. Operating it when its attached to my goggle strap is way too fiddly compared to the original aquabeat.
