Product Description

Product Description

This major text focuses on the decision-making process in the assessment and management of children with speech and language problems. Individual chapters written by experts in their field illustrate how the decisions may vary within different work settings and how they may need to be adapted when working with specific client groups. The book also provides an overview of the skills required by the developing professional and the ways in which speech and language therapists may work with others.

The book will be relevant to speech and language therapy students and potential students, specialist teachers in training, newly qualified therapists, therapists returning to the profession specialist teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinators.

I have only just purchased this book and it is becoming more and more indispensable to me: Up-to-date and informative -if not sometimes a little brief- sections (amongst others) on cleft palate, reflective practice and models of working.
Highly recommended not just for students but even my Speech Therapist Educator and tutors use it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book, 15 Jan 2011
This review is from: Speech and Language Therapy: The Decision-making Process When Working with Children (Paperback)
I am a third year SLT student and I have used this book in every essay on children's speech and language, and constantly referred to it on placement as well. If I go on to work with children I shall certainly buy the new edition when it comes out.
