A decades-long LAIBACH enthusiast, I was prepared for SPECTRE to be quite different as each LAIBACH album diverges significantly from the last. The first run-through invoked skepticism that it might constitute 'Laibach Lite', however these concerns were quickly resolved upon a second listening. SPECTRE dissolves the boundaries of musical media much like LAIBACH has championed the dissolution of geo-political borders. Anthemic, intriguing, and with more than a slight dose of wry humor, SPECTRE features Mina Špiler's delicately ferocious vocal stylings balanced against the cacophony of LAIBACH's frightening but prophetic assessment of contemporary global politics. This is an album full of promise.
