Product Description

Product Description

SPECTRE is the new Laibach album to be released on 3 March 2014!
With SPECTRE Laibach has created a big, important, and almost dangerous step forward; it seems that this time it has fatally crossed the Rubicon. On this album the group – which has never defined itself politically, but has, nevertheless, constantly analysed politics through its work – comes across as politically engaged as never before.
SPECTRE literally sounds like a political manifesto manifest in poetic form. Titles and lyrics couldn’t be more direct. With these lyrics and songs, Laibach, who has always given a controversial impression – or an impression of controversy – especially in terms of its political orientation, is now very clearly taking a position on the political spectrum and probably irreversibly abolishing its own (to some extent quite comfortable) political ‘freedom’ and neutrality

Awesome! a great recording experience, and their best album since WAT...a must for the newly converted, and essential for the old brigade. 10/10.

Great album. If you want to listen to something innovative and unique, Laibach's always a safe bet ! A very different album compared to its predecessors yet so very similar.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Velvet Glove over the Iron Fist 5 April 2014
By david k
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
A decades-long LAIBACH enthusiast, I was prepared for SPECTRE to be quite different as each LAIBACH album diverges significantly from the last. The first run-through invoked skepticism that it might constitute 'Laibach Lite', however these concerns were quickly resolved upon a second listening. SPECTRE dissolves the boundaries of musical media much like LAIBACH has championed the dissolution of geo-political borders. Anthemic, intriguing, and with more than a slight dose of wry humor, SPECTRE features Mina Špiler's delicately ferocious vocal stylings balanced against the cacophony of LAIBACH's frightening but prophetic assessment of contemporary global politics. This is an album full of promise.

"and SPECTRE always delivers what it promises" (From Russia With Love, 1963)

I tried, I failed. I am now obsessed. Thirty years of albums is a tall order, but I will have to dig deep and start buying!
