This is a fun-packed book which contains loads of information about special effects on stage and screen. It includes the history of effects, with lots of references to man's ingenuity, a fascinating insight into some of the secrets (which surely we all want to know!), fun quizzes and opportunities for the readers to have a go themselves.
The text, by Diana Kimpton, is lively and the cartoon illustrations by Royston Robertson are both amusing and informative.
Although aimed at children, it is also intriguing for adult readers, and I found the clarity of the text gave me a very good introduction to the subject, which made me eager to learn even more!
