The See Thru satin adds soft touch on a hard shell case. Silky soft touch with the same protection, as our trusted SeeThru line, gives your MacBook a smooth, semi translucent frosted finish with a grippy edge. Allows you access to all your important plugs and drives while highlighting the unique look of your new MacBook Pro 15 inches (aluminum unibody/black keyboard.) Installing your SeeThru Satin case on your MacBook is super simple and easy. First, gently dust off your MacBook before putting on your new SeeThru Satin. Close your MacBook and place the bottom shell on a table or hard surface. Press your notebook gently down into the shell until it snaps into the small tabs. Next, take the top shell and press it evenly down onto the top of your MacBook, applying pressure to the corners until it snaps snugly into place. To remove, pull the small tabs away from your notebook. If you are experiencing any difficulty, simply slip a credit card in the slot between your case and MacBook and pop off the tabs. We recommend removing the case periodically to dust or clean your MacBook.

Great for protecting your machine, if you want to protect this cover then less great, but that is a strange decision,

I have been using macbooks/macbook pros for 11 years now and am on my 5th, yet I have never had a hard cover yet, I have always used soft padded cases. My early 2009 MBP just fell foul of a rather heavy-footed passenger on a flight that managed to tread on my bag and smash the screen, after which I found out my insurance did not cover it. So, given the price of replacing the screen I took out a slightly early upgrade to a new 2011 MBP. My last machine has probably done 70 or 80 flights and was mildly battered but still working perfectly. Onto the case..Delivery: it arrived quickly but the packaging was a little battered, no problem though the case was fine, although the separators in the packaging had been knocked apart. Fit: it is a tight squeeze to get the case on, but I consider this a good thing - the fit is really snug and it does not detract from the use of the laptop. There is no movement or play whatsoever. Appearance: Looks smart when you first get it and you can see the glowing apple logo through the case. It does pick up fingerprints but so does the uncased laptop so no problems for me, just wipe it down. It is also more grippy than the aluminium case so you feel more comfortable carrying it. Function: The laptop still opens fully, and all of the ports are fully available. Some reviews mention that the right angled power adaptor did not fit well originally, I am happy to say that with this model it fits just fine. The magnetic release seems not to be affected at all and the laptop opens as before and stays shut just as well. PROS: costs about 1% of your new laptop and adds a little extra protection and security whilst adding little weight and making the machine less 'obvious'. CONS: I have already scraped and banged it a few times and the satin cover wears quite poorly, but it does still protect the machine whilst looking a bit less pretty. Overall: I am not sure that it would have saved me from the heavy foot screen breakage but I believe it would have helped. It has certainly saved a few scratches and scrapes and I decided to look after this laptop a little better without being precious about it. I am more than happy with this and think that any scratch on this case is better than one on the machine itself. I am giving it 4 stars because as others have mentioned it does scratch up a bit, BUT I would happily give it 5 for my own personal requirements.

I purchased my case in February 2010 as I needed some solid protection for my Mac as I was travelling a great deal to rural areas in India. Definitely great for protection but does not fair to well in humid and hot environments. After about 3mths the skin started to peel but in all fairness the battered look, made it look less 'nickable'.But, now, over a year later and numerous journeys, it is time to replace it for another one.
