Product Description

Spec Ops: The Line is a provocative, cinematic third-person military shooter that challenges players’ own morality by putting them in the middle of unspeakable depravity where brutal life-or-death choices take them on a journey into the heart of darkness.

Spec Ops: The Line’s emotional narrative unfolds within the destroyed opulence of Dubai. Once a playground for the world’s wealthiest elite, now Dubai has been reclaimed by Mother Nature, buried underneath the most devastating sandstorm ever recorded. Spec Ops: The Line allows gamers to play as Captain Martin Walker, leader of an elite Delta Force team ordered to infiltrate the treacherous region and bring home U.S. Army Colonel John Konrad.

Heightening the narrative to a fever-pitch are ultra-realistic operations against enemies who are unafraid of death and hell bent on destruction. Players must use a variety of combat tactics, authentic military weaponry and the environment to survive. Spec Ops: The Line offers Dynamic Sand that can be used to thwart foes. A well placed shot can cause an avalanche of sand, but sand has no loyalty and can help or hinder the mission.

Spec Ops: The Line packs a full range of single and multiplayer features complete with competitive and team-based modes, as well as the ability to rank up and customize characters from two different factions. The juxtaposition of Dubai’s bold and luxurious architecture and dizzying heights against the devastation outside, as well as the deep storyline mixed with ferocious combat situations, make Spec Ops: The Line a must-play game.

Features:

  • Deep, Mature Narrative: The story of Captain Walker’s rescue mission will challenge players to make tough choices between what’s moral and what’s necessary, as Walker’s journey pushes him to his very limits.
  • Blasted Opulence: The events unfold in a stunning, haunting setting – the remains of Dubai, once one of the wealthiest cities on Earth, now stripped bare. Dubai’s bold and luxurious architecture still shines through, in spite of the sandstorms threatening all that’s left. Opulent interiors contrast sharply with the vertigo inducing heights and mass destruction outside of the extravagant structures.
  • Dynamic Sand: Turn the tables on foes by crushing them under a cascade of sand cast down by a strategically placed shot – but beware of oncoming sandstorms and their gale-force winds. The sweeping sands of Dubai feel almost alive, serving as a powerful but unpredictable force that will both help and hinder the mission, while opening up a variety of new interactions and tactics.
  • Brutal, In-Your-Face Action: Join forces with intelligent, resourceful squad mates in fever-pitched gun battles. Accessible combat and squad controls will get you in the fight quickly, where you’ll experience the raw destructive force of your authentic weapons as well as engage in extremely physical close-quarters battles.
  • Endless Multiplayer: In addition to the single-player story mode, Spec Ops: The Line packs a full range of multiplayer features, including a never-before-seen mode with unique connections to the main story, a breadth of competitive and team-based modes, as well as the ability to rank up, personalize, and customize characters from two distinctly different factions.

5.0 out of 5 stars great game, shame about negative reviews 29 Jun 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
took a chance on this game as the reviewers said that the campaign was good but the multiplayer was not much to enjoy. Well as usual the reviewers got it totally wrong, the campaign is indeed great / atmospheric and when you get a few enemies on screen you really do feel pinned down. Multiplayer is pretty cool , the maps are quite large and work well plenty places to hide but quite difficult to camp long term as there is too much happening/too many openings . a fair few play modes help. I know some people will scream at me for this but i think the gameplay online is similar to uncharted 2 and better than uncharted 3 - sorry thats just my persnal thought people.

Great purchase for me personally and well worth the asking price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game 3 July 2012

So got this game day after release and finished single player in 2 days. Didn't want to put it down, the game looks and plays great. The action was intense and i found myself intrigued by the story. Will be playing this numerous times, tried multiplayer which i found alot of fun... much better than the Max payne 3 multiplayer in my opion, which was an absolute disapointment! Multiplayer has a number of game modes and pretty good maps. Gonna keep this short as want to get back to playing! Great game 9/10 campaign and 8/10 multiplayer, worth a look in my opinion...try the demo availble for download.

4.0 out of 5 stars Crosses the line first 1 Nov 2012
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Every now and then a game comes along and surprises you in a good way, admittedly it doesn't happen much in this hype driven age but Spec Ops the line left me pleasantly surprised after completing it.
I was expecting another Call of Modern Operations game and there is a fare share of heroic action sequences but it is much more than that as a whole. For a start the story is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with not only in the shooter genre which is not known for its strength in campaign stories but in gaming as a whole and in particular this generation where storytelling has been ushered away in favour of online modes and motion capture.
It is also a thing of beauty graphically in terms of landscape, destruction and the well advertised sand storms. I would even go as far as to compare it to Uncharted 3 in terms of capturing the essence of it location perfectly.
Are there any flaws to this game apart from it following the generic short campaign mode which has plagued shooter games in recent years? Well I can honestly say there are not many and those that I did encounter namely some dodgy collision detection were few and far between.
Definitely worth a buy and shows what can be done if developers dare to think out of the box for a minute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting! 14 May 2013

Dont judge a game by its cover!
If ever a video game deserved your time and attention this is it. Not the longest single player campaign, but it was a thrill ride of very strong emotions from start to finish. Great level and art design, great voice acting (did i hear Colonel Campbell in there) and one of the best stories I have experienced in video games. It gets under your skin. Play it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional game, albeit a bit short 29 April 2013
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Verified Purchase
This one is a must-play. Great and original story, amazing graphics, sound and acting, including Nolan North (Drake in Uncharted series) on the leading role, and reasonable (yet still challenging) requirements for the Platinum trophy, for you completionists out there.

On the down-side, the game is perhaps a bit too short. Such a star shines so much that it burns quickly! Still highly recommendable.

The single player campaign puts the like of COD to shame, had an eerie mystery about it that you rarely get from war games. Really enjoyed it.
