There is a problem at work with people who use bowls but don't wash them up afterwards, so I decided I needed my own bowl with a lid so I could heat my soup at lunchtime, rinse the bowl after eating the soup and then wash it properly at home. I didn't want to take a glass one in case it broke or the usual clear plastic ones because they stain easily.
I was a little bit worried when I opened this for the first time because it looked a bit small inside, but after filling it from a measuring jug I found it holds 500ml to just below where the lid goes; most tinned soups are 400ml, so this bowl leaves about half an inch between the soup and the lid.
I find that if I put the soup in and then place the lid on top without screwing it down, this allows the steam to escape and also stops the soup from going all over the inside of the microwave. The inside of the bowl is red and as most of the soups I use are a similar colour I don't notice much staining. The handle is very useful and is easier than trying to take a hot bowl out of the microwave and getting soup on the teatowel. The folded plastic spoon in the lid is useful for if you forget to take a metal spoon, but it is no use for stirring.
Overall an excellent product and one that gets used every day without any problems.
Update (May 2012): I would also recommend one of
these as an excellent alternative if you are going to eat the soup straight away and do not need to keep it warm.
