The Spear & Jackson Razorsharp Telescopic Bypass Lopper has a bypass (scissor) action which minimises stem bruising on living or ‘green’ stems. The lightweight aluminium handles feature a twist and lock telescopic mechanism and the blades are constructed from C50 carbon steel; which are hardened and tempered for durability. A PTFE coating on the blade provides rust resistance and smoother cutting.

Excellent. The telescopic handles enable extra leverage to be used to cut tougher branches and can be extended in stages to the maximum 30 inches. For smaller branches, the handles can be conveniently retracted. Very well made and unlike (often more expensive) loppers, these don't have any dubious plastic parts. All in all, these are excellent loppers at a keen price, which made short work of my conifer hedge with no aching arms or shoulders. Robustly made, but as light as they can be without compromising the durability.

The only question in my mind is whether or not replacement cutting blades are available because the reason I bought these was to replace an otherwise perfectly good pair of loppers on which the blade had worn down after several sharpenings but were non-replaceable, hence, they had to be scrapped. That said, a new blade would probably cost as much as complete new loppers, given the keen price.

I'd be happy to recommend them to others.

    David.

THE SPEAR AND JACKSON LOPPERS ARE EXTREMELY SHARP AND CUT BRANCHES LIKE MATCHES HARDLY ANY EFFORT TO CUT BRANCHES NEEDED AND THE TELESCOPIC ARMS MAKE IT EASIER TO CUT BRANCHES JUST WHERE YOU WOULD NORMALLY HAVE TO USE STEP LADDERS SO GOOD BUY AND SAVES A LITTLE TIME

These were delivered in a matter of days after ordering them, brilliant. My Husband loves them, as he can now reach all those akward bits he could never reach in the Garden. Highly recommended.

These loppers are good quality and very well made. Cut even thick branches easily and the extended length makes it easy to prune even the high branches on shrubs. The price is good and well worth paying that little bit extra for a quality product.

The loppers arrived today, and I just had to get in the garden and use them! My old pair recently broke having done loads of work, so the time came to buy a new pair. How pleased I am to have bought these. The handles are oval, meaning you can put a bit of pressure on them without bending - my old pair were round handled and they did bend under pressure. The extension action is great, - you turn the end of the handle and extend and turn the end to lock into place - and they do stay extended, not like my old pair where you twisted the whole handle to lock and unlock and very frequently they came unlocked if you gripped the handles slightly wrongly. The size of branch lopped is as they say, and the ease with which they cut through was superb, only time will tell how much they lose this ability as the blade blunts. So to sum up, they are great to use and reasonably priced as well.
