I have a large garden, so I always try to get the best tools for the job. These secateurs were just what I needed. I do not like the ones that have that silver springy thing between the handles, as these eventually start coming loose and falling out (and getting lost!) The Spear and Jackson do not have these, and also have a ratchet so you can cut very thick branches in stages. The handles are soft and comfortable. I always used bypass secateurs before, but these anvil ones are much better. They are what the name says - Razorsharp!

Having owned many makes and types of secateurs over the past 40 years I have at last found a pair that work well for all my pruning needs. These secateurs are without doubt the best; they will cut through thin or thick, dead or live, dry or moist and they are superb at cutting old bamboo canes to desired length. Every gardener should have a pair of these.

Very pleased with these secateurs. Have used ratchet ones before but they sometimes hurt my hands. Not so with these from Spear & Jackson - must be down to the twist handle which gives the secateurs flexibility.
Very comfortable to use and very sharp. Will be ordering another pair very soon so that my husband can have a pair as well.

Easy to use
These secateurs work really well, and the twist handle saves a lot of the wear and tear on the hands.

Quality product.
Excellent Secateurs. Not too sure about the need for a swivelling grip but it does not detract from the excellent performance. Would definately recommend this product.

Ratchet mechanism only lasted 8 months
Basically the secateurs worked well and the ratchet mechanism made cutting thicket stems and small branches relatively easy. Read more

Good for some tasks but not all
These secateurs are fine for heavier pruning tasks (i.e. woody growth) but are clumsy and unwieldy for dead-heading etc. The handles are best suited to gardeners with large hands. Read more
