Sharpening is the bane of my life in the garden and kitchen. Try as I might, I have never acquired the skill to sharpen by traditional means and am therefore prey to the sales pitch on any device that promises easy sharpening. Sadly, to date, I have been disappointed with each and every one of those I've tried - and I've tried many!
And frankly, this is no miracle-worker either. If you possess the knack of holding blades at the right angle and whizzing them through cleanly and with the right pressure this would probably work like a dream for you (but then so would most things!), but as I do not, my results have been less than brilliant thus far. It didn't help that the product came with no instructions either, but once I'd worked out what went where, I did manage to get a semi-decent edge on my secateurs and loppers (well, better than they were before, anyway!) and some improvement on my kitchen scissors and knives. Nothing that would match the description of "razor sharp" though.
So, I've given it 3 stars because it seems reasonably well made - the little bottle of oil in the handle is certainly a nifty idea - and I think that in the right hands this product would work well, but if you're hopeless at sharpening like me then I wouldn't expect too much.
