Bought this to do some fairly heavy digging but it lasted no time at all before one of the prongs snapped. The replacement broke in the same place on the same prong. Perhaps there was a manufacturing flaw? Don't know but I'm a 67-year old woman, not a beefy young man, so I was surprised to have this happen twice. I didn't try for the third time but requested a refund which was issued without question.

Broke on first use 24 May 2011
Very disappointing! A digging fork that is not designed for digging! The first time I used it the handle broke. Though it looked like a solid wood handle is wasn't. It was more like balsa wood!

This has lasted 1 month and the wooden shaft as broken off where it meets the metal. I have only used it on 3 occasions and was not doing anything too stenuous.

Snapped Handle

Handle snapped off after 3 digs!!
If you put ANY reasonable lateral force on the wooden part of the handle then it will snap. I'd bought this as a "fork for life" but tragically ended it's life doing the job it... Read more

Good Value for noted make
For the price, this is a good buy.Used it to prepare the garden for winter by aerating the lawn. Spear & Jackson very rarely let you down.
