Relevance in both humor and heartfelt emotion
Speaking of Love has in it all the surprises, ponderances, majesty, faithfulness, romance, humor and comfort that one can incur from a long-lasting relationship. Rod Kirkham and Barbara Llewellyn hand-picked every short story and poem carefully for such a reason.
They didn't go about a typical romance book which can be one-sided and nauseating. Instead they sum up all that is love and they did a smashing job compiling and writing. . It took poets and writers from around the world to really get every view point across.
Barbara Llewellyn has two short stories in this book.
The first is "Elevator Angel" and the second is the ending story "The Final Word." My favorite was "The Final Word"
The story of how love comes to two neighbors who have a grudge
By the intervenance of their dogs love.
Also, it was great to be uplifted by the great love quotes between every chapter. The poetry in here was the absolute best to delve into. The romance poets in this book really know their romance.
So if you're looking for a Valentines Day present that shows the heart chords and plays them before your eyes, speaking of love is just that.
What is the point of this book and romance in general?
The point is when speaking of love don't generalize.
What Rod and Barbara have learned from over their long marriage?
That's obvious to me is: Love is everything.

Humorous and Heartwarming

I couldn't put the book down once I began reading the pieces. They are sufficiently short to be able to read in a single sitting, but each is complete in itself. The stories are humorous and life affirming, each with that tone of reality that makes the reading both engaging and enjoyable. As a poet myself, I liked the style and tone of the included works--uplifting and joyous. A pleasure to read.
