I've been a Chris Isaak fan since "Blue Hotel" was featured in the TV series "Private Eye". But it's taken me a while to get used to the new style which he portrays on this CD.

His rockabilly roots are almost buried - although "I'm not sleepy" is a good rockin' tune, and "Super Magic 2000" is a good garagey stroller. Instead this is a mature pop album, stand out tracks for me are "Flying" - definite single potential - and "Like The Way She Moves".

Buy it and let it grow on you - I didn't like it at first, but now I rate it even over "Forever Blue" - even without the rock 'n' roll input which he usually brings to his recordings.

This album by Chris Isaak is a very good and distinctly different one compared to what he's produced in the past. It's got a rockier feel to it as set out in the opening track "Please". My favourite tracks on this album that show the Chris Isaak at his most melancholic are "Flyin'" and "Breaking Apart" co-written with Diane Warren. There's a lot of good stuff here but it's not quite 5 star potential.

This is a very different offering from the coiffeured californian. I was expecting more retro rockablily but got a very preppy, poppy LP instead. But don't let that put you off. I had to listen to it a lot more than his other stuff, but I now think it's almost as good as 'Forever Blue'-easily the best thing he's ever done. Isaak is a very talented artist and is yet to make an album that isn't pure quality.
