Review

"The novel nicely slots the story into the events of Blood and Sand... The action sequences are excellent, not an easy task especially when those reading will compare it to the visuals on the show." --Geek Mom

"From Capua to Neapolis, Spartacus: Swords & Ashes is a novel about villainy and heroism with some blood-soaked action thrown in for good measure." --TV Overmind

"A vastly entertaining book, with a colorful palette of characters to propel each scene forward. The pace never slacks, and when your thirst for blood begins to take hold, this book delivers." --The Daily Rotation

"J.M. Clements [is] an indefatigable and very talented hack who always delivers more than he needs to. This novel is a perfect example... Unlike most mass market paperbacks produced today, this is a book that can be re-read without falling apart. And thanks to Clements, you might very well want to re-read it." --Open Letters Monthly

"J.M. Clements manages to set a pace that captures most of the frenetic energy of the series." --Horror Talk

"Swords and Ashes also adds a mystery element to the Spartacus story line that fits extremely well and makes the book all that much more interesting." --8 Days a Geek

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable! 2 Oct 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A very well written and apparently extensively researched story. It's set slightly apart from the early events in the first series of Starz's Spartacus with plot twists which draw you in and keep you guessing until the final page. Very enjoyable and a credit to the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spartacus Fix 8 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased this book between the end of the first series and release of the second and needed a Spartacus fix. It moves as smoothly as the studio, the script is spot on and it's a bit of fun. I must have read this in less than a day. I would reccomend it for any Spartacus fan or for anyone who wants a quick Roman read.
