The names have been changed and many identifying details have been altered, but this is a memoir and all the people within it are real. If you want to read the genuine account of a man who has spent a lifetime stripping naughty females of their dignity, knickers and ability to sit down in comfort for a few days, then this is the book for you.
About the Author
Nick Urzdown is the pen name of a bon viveur and libertine, who has been writing on and off for many years. In real life, Nick is a graduate of Ruskin College, Oxford, the University of Manchester and a rather scratty polytechnic in South London. He went on to become the professor of North American History at a Mexican university and has a penis with a mind of its own which led him astray on more than one occasion with nubile young Mexican undergraduates. Ill health forced him to return to the United Kingdom in December 2009 and he now lives in Northern England. It amuses him to see the look of puzzlement on British people's faces when he tells them that the youngest two of his three sons were born six months apart. Mexicans understand immediately what happened, and he has resolved to spend the rest of his life trying to ensure that the British cease being quite so bovine.

Looking at A Spanking Good Life only as a text my first reaction as a woman was how harsh the writing style is. The author writes in a way that makes a girl feel nervous just reading his words, which given that he is a man who believes that men should be in charge is probably what he intended. Again, from the feminine perspective, this book allows us to see the world through a man's eyes, as Nick Urzdown makes no attempt to empathise with either the females that he meets, nor the ones who may read his book. What he does is give us a little series of sketches at the start of several chapters in which he tells us about his appearance at that time. So a girly reader can picture how he looked when he was doing all those horrible things to other girls!
Give the man credit because he can write well. We are carried along on a roller coaster ride that begins when he was just 15 and ends when he hits 55. I turned the pages of this book and kept wanting to know more, even though each episode is pretty much the same. He met a girl, had her as his lover, they argued and so he smacked her bottom to teach her a lesson. It all sounds so simple but because the book reads so well, I was often left to wonder if one of these girls would manage to turn the tables on him. One managed it! He calls her Paloma in the book and she managed to take Nick Urzdown for a ride indeed, but by and large this is an account of a dominant man keeping women in line.

I was told about A Spanking Good Life by my friend so I downloaded it, I read it at one sitting and my head is till spinning; I totally cannot believe what I have just read! Don't get me wrong, as I am not saying that it is bad, what I am saying is that it is so great that I cannot believe that it has only just been published. Where has this writer been up until now?
I love kinky books, but they always try to get into the girl's head and look at things from her point of view. I'm a girl! I know what is going through her head because the same thing is going through mine. What I want to know is what the man is thinking. A Spanking Good Life does that for me. I can see the world through Nick Urzdown's eyes as he goes through life, and OMG isn't he horrid?
He is what Mr Rochester or Rhett Butler would be if they were just a little bit colder. As a fantasy figure, and believe me I will be fantasising about Nick Urzdown for a long time to come, he is perfect for me. Whether I would ever want to meet him in the flesh I don't know, but from within the page he makes me sigh rather heavily.

I was very reluctant at first to read what seems to be yet another spanking book with the same story retold in a slightly different fashion, chapter after chapter BUT what an absolute pleasure reading this book turned out to be! The author tells his story without the constricting boundaries of pc jargon, leaving you with a true sense of his experiences.
His journey from teenage and young adult life in England, to the exotic shores of Mexico, whilst leaving many sore bottoms in his wake, is relayed in a brutal honest fashion. I found myself unable to put the book down - wondering where Nick Urzdown will take me next, and he never disappointed me!
I found the honest and gritty manner in which he tells his story about the women in his life, the spankings and the sex extremely erotic, but even more importantly, I met a dominant male that is not ashamed to let you share in his life during the good and the bad times.
I sincerely hope that Nick will soon put pen to paper again, it is abundantly clear that he is still continuing to enjoy his Good Spanking Life, but in the mean time, I will definitely be reading his book again! If you are looking for an adult spanking book with substance - look no further.
