For anyone that is serious about relocating to Spain this is the bible, it covers all requirements is informative and the contributors are all professional people in their own right, highly recommended.

This book starts by exploring the reasons why 30% of people

theme is the need for "commitment"! If one gets past that
the book has a lot of useful information - some of which is
getting dated (publication 2009).
I started out keen to purchase somewhere but then I found out
how cheap it is (or seems to be from headline rates!) to rent
somewhere. Thus my plan now is to choose an area (plenty
of assistance in the book to narrowing down the area) and to
rent a while - with this book and others as bedtime reading so
that I am prepared if the "search" comes up with something.
The book recommends a time period for renting in that way
and various other gems of advice are present on its pages.
The last two words are "Good Luck" but one may need less
of that having heeded previous advice on how to do it safely!

Another item bought for my father! He was thinking of buying a property in Spain whilst the market was down. He was incredibly thankful that I did, as there are a tremendous amount of pitfalls and things you need to know due to the differences between buying property here and in Spain. Without such knowledge, you could land yourself in all sorts of property traps. From his comments, I would say this book is an invaluable reference if you are considering doing the same thing.

If it hadn't been for my wife Cristina, I wouldn't have moved to Gran Canaria back in 2004. A natural born Canarian, she has made me feel very much at home on the island. Although in the first few days, actually make that years, of pining for a return to London, this book would have been another ideal companion, crammed as it is with advice for expats making a new life in Spain. Every home should have one.
