I hesitated and gave it a 'I like it' score, because it DID help me out on two recent trip to Spain - most noteably Barcelona, where I was amazed at how little English is (supposed) to be understood in the cafe's down the side streets. That said, I did feel that the dictionary at the back was lacking. Note to Editor of book: More English to Spanish section than other way round please! When you are trying to construct a pigeon-Spanish sentence, you can get by with some joining words but you need the main word as the body of the sentence. The book is good on the grammer and sentence construction but poor on the actual word it is you want, or want directions to, or in addition to.

Travelled around spain and used this quite a bit to help book rooms and get directions, has most of the basic phrases you would need and people seemed to understand me!

The size, the clear subject sections, the explanations give this little gem a reward of 5 stars. Great to carry on a trip or to brush up on last minute language skills. Happy with my purchase.

Very handy book to take on your travels. Has all the most useful phrases and more. I always phrasebooks and travel guides from the Lonely Planet series as I think they provide the most useful information with a good degree of humour. The "meeting people" phrases definitely provide entertainment.
