I bought this after trying it out at my local library and my mother was keen to try it too. I've used it a few times since I bought it and so far so good. I can remember everything exactly and within an hour of hard study I was speaking Spanish. A week later I could still remember it and now I'm building on that knowledge.

I like it because it's entirely different to the way we learned at school- Buzan uses the traffic system Green for Go ahead, amber for stop and think (make a link) and Red for words and phrases that are hard to remember. You learn by picturing the words in your head and the link you have to them. It's not just about learning a word by repetition, you have to give it meaning.

I'm hoping to keep adding to my vocabulary as time goes on using this system.

I am enjoying learning Spanish with this book - it makes learning a new language fun and gives lots of useful ways to remember the new vocabulary.

I was looking for a program to help me teach elementary Spanish and I really like Collins products. This one is good. It's colorful and well thought out. The CD listening exercises are current and natural sounding. It is geared towards castellano, spanish spoken in Spain. I went ahead and tried out iMindMaps, a learning tool that is based on associative thinking. Pretty cool. The mind maps at the end of every chapter are pretty sparse, perhaps forming a base for more learning. I can't say how it would be for a new learner who is trying to be self-taught, but the concept of how to learn is valuable for anyone.
