A Socialist's View of Franco Is Never Positive. 20 Dec 2009
By Borntofish - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Typical negative view of General Franco by a Left Wing sympathiser.

One has to understand Francisco Franco was, first and foremost, someone who hated everything Communism stood for. In 1930's Europe Communism was on the rise. Hitler himself rose in popularity by being a Socialist sympathiser and it was only later that he created his own political Party.

Franco rose to power by being one of the Generals who opposed Spain's so-called Second Republic, which was actually a Communist takeover of the then existing monarchy. Franco's anti-communists forces won the Spanish Civil War, in 1936, and stayed in power for almost forty years until Franco's death in 1975.

This book is tainted with socialist ideas about Franco, and it shows from chapter one. Civil wars are cruel, just look at the American one. There were killings and massacres on both sides. This writer never mentions the thousands of Spaniards murdered by socialists, specially priests and nuns, since the communists hated everything that had to do with religion.

A good book to read if you have Left-Wing ideas, but not one that will give you a true insight into General Francisco Franco.
