John, international evangelist and speaker. "What a refreshing read! Carl has described the experiences of 52 men we read of in the Bible making them relevant and challenging for Christian men. I highly recommend this great resource." Lyndon Bowring, Executive Chairman CARE

Product Description

A book for men ... enquirers, new Christians, and for use in evangelism among men. Why do men need to read the Bible to grow their faith and character? We are all "work in progress", but there are stories of men in the Bible which will provide insight and guidance for the journey. Contains 52 character studies of men in the Bible, of varying lengths. Some are just a single page, others a bit longer. All include a few verses from the Bible, a reference to a more extended Bible text, and thoughts how these related to men today with some suggestions for action.

Carl writes plain and simple, challenging messages that hit home. These vignettes of various men in the bible are helping me learn by example - whether good to emulate or bad to avoid. Oh, and he's funny too!
I have been leading men's groups for years and in my opinion this is one of the best books to help men discover how to relate to God. Accessible, action packed, ace!

Beechy's Book for Blokes with a Bible 12 Mar 2008
By Mr. Stephen Redman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book has short accounts of 52 men in the Bible. With each one he makes a point that is relevant to modern men giving learning points and helping develop life skills with the aim of reaching maturity.

The author is open about the fact that when he became a Christian as an Essex boy he had to buy a book on children's Bible stories to catch up on his Bible knowledge. I am glad to say though that as a trained Baptist minister his understanding of scripture has moved beyond those early days!

This is not a book though for the person looking for a traditional set of character studies. This volume refuses to be stacked with those dusty library books and instead orders a pint and a curry.

You will be instantly engaged by the off-the-wall style and the out-of-box thinking that the author demonstrates on every page. These men (some of which don't even have a `given' name) burst into life in your living room (assuming that's where you are reading!)

Whereas this book can be read from cover to cover it also lends itself to being dipped into from time to time. This style makes it ideal for men's groups, and with every character we are given questions to think about. This book isn't about our history - it is about empowering men to make history.

Does your birth certificate say you are male? Then go out and buy this book now!

Are you female? Then buy this book for the man in your life. If you haven't got a man then try giving a copy away with the line "you look like a real man - this book is for real men!"
