Dr. Torrance provides an excellent description of how modern physics and geometry provide a more realistic framework not only for understanding space and time but also for understanding Christ's resurrection as an event that transcends notions of space and time. This transcendence is more understandable when the resurrection is understood in the light of how we view space and time in relativistic terms. Torrance's presentation of these concepts is quite deep and I plan to read this excellent book many times to grasp the full extent of its meaning.

Amazon.com: HASH(0x88f6ace4) out of 5 stars 2 reviews
30 of 33 people found the following review helpful
By Ian Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Torrance is one of the too easily overlooked names in the challenging world of modern Christian theology. Here he ably demonstrates the life affirming and cataclysmic significance of the Resurrection and Ascencion of Christ by focusing on the redemptive, life from death, operation of the Historical and Eschatological Jesus (who indeed are one and the same) towards the end of rescuing and putting to rights human temporal existence and human spacial existence.

Thomas F. Torrance does all of this with the style of Barth and Van Til while making notable invitations to those outside of the Christian tradition and academia. He invites us towards a scientific theology.
HASH(0x88f7da44) out of 5 stars Brilliant Reflection on the Resurrection 1 Jan. 2016

I have long been a fan of Torrance's work and so any book, article, or essay you can get your hands on is worth it. He has been regarded, and rightly so, as the premier English speaking theologian of the 20th century (at least for certain in the latter half). Intense, brilliant, devoted and utterly committed to sharing the importance of the person and work of Christ--T. F. Torrance is one theologian not to be overlooked or missed. Having had coffee with him on one of the last tours he made of the US I can personally attest to how intense he was as a person and how intelligent. Though we were grappling with what we thought were pretty deep questions, it was obvious that they were child's play to him. Its a shame he is not as well regarded in the U.S. as he ought to be. Read him, read him, read him, read him!!
