Bought this as a present for a 9 year old.
He couldn't put it down and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Only complaint was that he wanted the book to be longer with even more slimy aliens. So 4 stars.
Great mix of real facts, fun stuff and cartoon strips with the slimy aliens.

This book is about the space we don't know!!!!
It is a great book with lots of fascinating facts that some astronomers
would not know. It is fabulous and if you want to be an scientist this is
the book for you. Even better, they leave the horrible bits in, so its not for the squeamish.
My favourite part was the alien stories with Oddblob, Splurb and many more characters. I think the advertising is very very good, although Honest Bob's ideas will never work.
The only bit I didn't like was when I had to finish it.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it - unless you dont like gory stories!

'The Van Allen belts, named after US scientist James Van Allen, who found them in 1958, are between 1000 and 25000 km from Earth. The Sun's radiation gets trapped by the Earth's magnetic fields in the belts. But if a spacecraft broke down there, the astronauts would be revoltingly roasted by the radiation.'
