The story of the most ambitious British television series ever made. A feature length documentary about Gerry Anderson's short lived, live action series Space Precinct. Featuring all new interviews with cast and crew and never before seen behind the scenes material. Space Precinct Legacy is a must have for all Gerry Anderson and science fiction fans.

I'm a fan of Space Precinct so approached this with interest hoping for a 'peak behind the curtain'. Sadly this fails to deliver for many reasons, most obvious is the lack of any original show footage (due to the cost of licensing). So when an anecdote is told by a former member of the crew there's no footage shown to give it context. This results in the documentary feeling unfinished. Again budget constraints meant that none of the original music could be used in the documentary. Which probably wouldn't be to much of an issue if one of the crew members involved wasn't the composer, who talks at length about how he went about getting the music just right for precise plot elements from certain episodes. Both issues could be over come by having the box set to hand for reference, but I watched this at the cinema so didn't have this option.

The static style of the documentary and the limited number of crew members interviewed leave you with a feeling that you've not really been told the whole story. I'm sure there's an interesting story to be told here, I'm just not sure that this does it justice.

It's worth a look if you're a fan of the show/genre. Anyone with a casual interest might find this a hard watch.

I bought Space Precinct Legacy on BluRay and its a cracking documentary.
Whilst theres no clips from the actual show, this is a 90 minute, no holds barred, honest retrospective on what it was like working on what was then, the most expensive TV show ever produced. And its the honesty and candid nature of the interviews that sets this up above most other documentaries.
The interviewees don't shy away from the fact that, at times, it could have been better. If you are into Scifi, the work of Gerry Anderson, or just into production as a whole, its well worth checking out.

I have always been interested in the inner workings of many television shows and their "truthful" documentaries like with old Doctor Who and Robin of Sherwood for example as they have been very well made and have some colourful stories to them.

I remember this show as a kid when it was broadcast on BBC2 (the cyborg episode is the one I remember the most). I do have fond memories of the show and, whilst it wasn't perfect, this documentary reflects the same mixed feelings people have towards the show. This is a very raw and telling documentary about the show. Whilst I was a little distracted by the fact that there were no show clips I found they were not as important next to the interviews with the crew members and the one cast member.

All in all this was a thoroughly informative documentary and I would recommend it to any fan of sci-fi, Gerry Anderson or raw, no-nonsense and truthful documentaries on television shows.

I would love to buy this, but that price is way too high. What makes it worse is that I've also been put off given that all the reviews here and elsewhere state that it isn't really too in depth and perhaps more disappointing is that only a handful of people are talked to...even more disappointing no behind the scenes footage? :(
