Space Orville [Kindle Edition]

I did already review this book, but this one is in response to the feedback request. This an original and imaginative book with great characters. Even if you don't normally read stories about shenanigans in space, you should read this one for the way the writer uses language.

From start to finish a great read, a cross between Hitchhikers Guide and Monty Python, very reminiscent of early Goon Shows. In other words a really funny book with surprising depths. Looking forward to reading the next book by Jeff Whelan.

I was looking forward to reading this one as you don't see many light hearted scifi books around. I can safely say that I wasn't disappointed, never has so much nonsense made so much sense. I think this is quite an achievement and it must be difficult to write in such a way and still make a compelling tale. Jeff has most certainly succeeded in doing this and could easily follow on from this great piece of work and write a sequel about Space Orville's next adventure. I particularly enjoyed his take on the dreamers world of Narvosis and the nightmarish realm of Malfiria. This place was so much fun and I'd love to hear more about it and its guardian Zabooka.

All in all this is a very entertaining read and Jeff has a great way of using colourful and picturesque description without drawing things out and becoming tedious. I recommend this to scifi fans everywhere and found it reminisce of the famous The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

My daughter and I have just finished reading `Space Orville', by Jeff Whelan. I never read Science Fiction-I have no means to explain why, I love watching Sci-Fi movies and TV shows, but not reading them...go figures! Anyway, my daughter loves reading Sci-Fi, and won a copy of the book as a very generous gift from Jeff Whelan himself, after I interviewed him on my blog. Since I knew it had to be a great book, with so many wonderful reviews, I decided to read it with her, and what a fantastic decision that was!

This book is amazing. Seriously, it was an unforgettable journey.

The attention to detail is remarkable. Everything and every name in the story seem to be thoroughly thought. You keep reading and being pleasantly surprised by Whelan's ability to create the most unbelievable and bizarre things and people in a way that you simply have to believe. It all makes sense! Just like to Space Orville, the mysteries of the Universe are presented to us. Flabbergasted at first we start to get immerse into this Universe. Suddenly, you are holding your Kindle as if trying to control a spaceship, grinding your teeth as if watching a movie.

The story has it all; laughter, tenderness, suspense, action, everything!

In the final chapters, we were reading really fast to finish and see how it all would end, curiosity taking hold of us. Then, when we finished, we were both hysterical about the great ending and sad because we wanted more! I miss the story already. Actually, I can imagine weekly episodes, toys, lunch boxes, etc about space Orville.

As one reviewer said, how can this not be a Pixar blockbuster yet? Imagine seeing all these characters in big screen (bigger than my mental screen, that is)?

Mondo Bizarro & Laugh-Out-Loud Funny!

SPACE ORVILLE by Jeff Whelan is a unique gem. I enjoyed reading this original galactic extravaganza and found myself laughing--OFTEN!

Jeff Whelan is gifted and crafty with his words. Also, the names of his characters, places and things had me peeing me pants--Bizmo, Bimble Z. Dox, Fog Napkin, Manticle Flazz, NeutroFuzz and Dr. Lunchwrap, had me in stitches!

Jeff Whelan has an amazing ability crafting interesting characters and plots that are so delightful and bizarre at times it's a real treat!

If you're a fan of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, give SPACE ORVILLE by Jeff Whelan a go. Personally, it was one of the most exiting, funniest sci-fi adventures I have read this year and can be enjoyed by anyone interested in the genre.

Way to GO, Jeff.
