Book Description

When planets get mad they don't get even, they get creative.

Legends say that the Universe created an orb of Light to protect itself from a growing evil. They say that when it is needed most the Light will appear to save the day. If only it was that simple.

For Sarah, abducted by aliens on her way to the supermarket due to an administrative error, life will never be simple again.

(This is the first in the Space Hoppers series - book two will be coming out in 2014)

More About the Author

I didn't set out to write books. To start with I wanted to do something sensible with psychology. Unfortunately while training to become a psychotherapist I started to visualize guinea pigs abseiling down window blinds to the theme tune of Mission Impossible and realized I was probably on the wrong career path. My first book, 'Space Hoppers, Dance of the Guinea Pigs', was published in September 2012. There's no dancing, it's not a children's book and the few guinea pigs that feature go ninja. Wait till it comes out in 3D...

My Twist and Scream series is available individually in volumes one to six or there's an omnibus edition for volumes one to four. Volume seven is in progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything happens for a reason 25 Nov. 2012
By Delph
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I ordered this on kindle quite by accident, not the sort of thing I would usually give a second glance (still getting used to one click) but I decided to read it anyway, they say everything happens for a reason! I was plesently surprised at how much I enjoyed it, so much so that I would definately recommend it to my friends and family. Am now just wondering if the author has plans for a sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and funny 24 Dec. 2012
By teribar
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was good. Written in the style of Hitch hikers Gide to the Galaxy, it introduced human and alien characters without the reader losing interest in long explanations of the differences between them. The whole story had a pleaseing light touch,

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book given the title but I was completely engrossed. I'm hoping for a sequel, I need to know what the future holds for Sarah and Xander. Well done to Ms Bartholomew on a well written first novel.

What a debut! I wasn't sure why to expect from the title as 'space' definitely isn't my genre but I was blown away! I was totally engrossed with every word and can't wait for a sequel! It is so well written I was on that adventure with Sarah and Xander every step of the way.Totally absorbing! Well done Miss Batholomew!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't stop smlling! 25 Sept. 2012
By Liz
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A friend convinced me to buy this book and although I didn't think it was the sort of thing I would normally read I bought it because she was so insistent that I should. I had many things planned to do today but I have not been able to put this amusing, quirky story down. I've smiled my way through it. It's new and different and totally absorbing. LOVED it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding read 24 Sept. 2012
By John
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Started reading this book and couldnt put it down. It's an absolutely lovely story thats the
best I've read since Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - it seems to combine the plotting and
originality of Douglas Adams and JK Rowling with a really refreshing thread of gentle but wry humour which runs
throughout the book. I'm certainly recomending it to my friends,
and will watch with eager anticipation for the next in the series.

When this gets made into a film, as it inevitably will, I will be there to watch it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute hoot - or it that Squeak? 18 Sept. 2013
By Steve B
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book from the opening chapter and can't wait for book 2. In this story Jayne Bartholomew demonstrates herself to be a fabulously witty author with a great sense of humour and, as another reviewer has already mentioned, brings far more than just a hint of Douglas Adams' brilliance into her writing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant distraction
A pleasant enough read inducing the occasional wry smile but for me it never quite delivered on it's promise. Formatting good, occasional missing words towards the end of the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm with Monty on this one - light amusement
This is good for light amusement. A sort of vehicle for some of Jayne's whimsy lightly glued together in a thin plot. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars reminds me of Douglas Adams
This book was incredibly funny. I laughed out loud on a crowded train reading this book. It is cleverly written and comparable with Douglas Adams' masterpieces. Highly recommended!
