If you are anything like me this was the item at the Museum Gift Shop (see, or more accurately listen to, episodes of the superb
The Museum of Everything (BBC Audio) ad nauseum) that you were never allowed, well Mum, you never bet on me growing up, having my own money, and suddenly finding this on Amazon with free delivery, did you eh?!
The plus points about this item are that it actually does taste quite a bit like ice cream, is definately not unpleasant, and makes a really cool (and inexpensive to send onwards, esp. overseas) gift for a freind, as well as being interesting to look at.
To be honest though, Mum and Dad probably were partially right - on the downside it always arrives broken (even Pic #2 shows it broken before arrival - 'Serving Suggestion' indeed!), is probably dearer than Gold or Saffron per gram, and contains all the calories of usual said creamy treat with a lot less of the enjoyment. You couldn't put a flake or sprinkles with this block!
Although pitched as a 'educational toy' and aimed at kids, I'm not sure what they would learn from this. Apart from, perhaps, be careful what you spend your pocket money on?
