There are places on our planet that are still imperfectly known. This applies particularly to the Arctic, the Antarctic and the ocean depths. This book tells about how Soviet explorers and geographers have penetrated the secrets of unexplored land and water areas and how they have filled in many blank spaces on geographical maps.
The first part of the book deals with explorations and discoveries within the Soviet Union. The second part is devoted to Soviet explorations and discoveries in foreign countries, Antarctica, and the World Ocean.
