Top class compilation from those ultra reliable people at Kent. Some of the tracks have been made available elsewhere, but no matter - this is high quality Southern Soul from first to last.
No set featuring the likes of Johnny Adams, Peggy Scott, Betty Lavette and Reuben Bell can be discounted and this one delivers in fine style. Apart from the aforementioned we have some great moments from Big John Hamilton, Double Soul and Johnny Dynamite. The familiar mingle with the obscure but the quality is always maintained.
Buy with complete confidence.

It's a fine roundup of solid, professional 60's funky & soulful R&B. There are no hidden or forgotten gems, just a solid roundup of regional artists who couldn't quite break out nationwide like Motown, Philly, Stax or Atlantic artists ...

A nice CD for completists but for general R&B fans, they will probably find this CD wanting.

The sound quality is excellent.
