If you like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allmans, Molly Hatchet et al, and dig a genre of music often termed "Southern Rock"/"Southern Boogie" buy this book! Popoff re-connects you with the Sounds of The South. Blending album reviews and band history, you're taken back to the classic 1969-1982 years. A pacey read, it's a quality snapshot of an oft-forgotten, ignored music culture.
Comprising a useful index, bibliography, photos and other snippets of information, the author has delivered a gem, an absolute "must have" piece of literature for the library. Last published in 2001,I hope this book gets updated to keep pace with album releases of the many bands that comprise the Confederate Army.
While I don't always agree on some of the ratings (that's personal choice) - can we have another 50 pages!!
