“Premature middle age escaped us and high adventure called…” begins the author in this humorous memoir about how Hard-Times became Good-Times. Following a job loss, a worn picture postcard ignites adventures South of the Frontera leading to the Peace Corps. This is a vivid description of Mexico and Central America between 1975 and 1977. From basking in the Sea of Cortes alongside a pelican to learning to dance in Honduras, an original voice rings true with youthful curiosity and down-home wit and insight."

A great adventure 5 April 2010
By Michael Schmicker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I'm a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Thailand 1969-1972) who served a few years befor the author. Serving overseas can be real, intense and life-changing. This one is a tale of true romance wrapped in a humorous, highly entertaining Peace Corps experience. You're in for an adventure. Highly recommended.

A wonderful travel & love adventure 2 Jun 2010
By Paul D. Searles - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The author takes us on an exciting romp south of the border where we share in his sometimes scary, sometimes hilarious, always surprising exploits in a culture (several different cultures, actually)very different from his own. Those who think foreign travel consists of capital cities, fancy hotels, and ingratiating servers will finally have their eyes opened to what 'foreign' travel really is at its most basic. Lawrence(aka Lorenzo)Lihosit writes of the time when he was a young 'twenty-something' in search of a life, some companionship, and with luck, some love. In time he found them all, while at the same time making a contribution to the well-being of his newly found compatriots. What begins as a 'hippy-on-the-road' adventure story, morphs the tale of a Peace Corps volunteer doing his best to make the world a better place, becomes in the end a love story complete with a happy end. In the proces of reading this book one learns a great deal about our Latino neighbors, and about ourselves when we respond to them. Read it with pleasure!

A dose of good medicine 21 April 2010
By Starley Talbott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Lessons in life and love are like a dose of good medicine as Lihosit ventures south in this fast-paced tale of adventure. Out of work but not out of ambition, he winds his way through Mexico towards his Peace Corps assignment in Honduras. This story is as relevant today as it was when it was lived and a reminder that adversity brings reward to those who persevere.
