Have used several types of of fly zappers over the last seven years, when we moved to a house backing onto a cattle farm and were plagued by cluster flies all summer long. The ExecutionerTM PRO Fly Swat Wasp Bug Mosquito Swatter Zapper is by far the best I have had and well worth paying the extra for. It has more weight than most, this helps with the follow-through when swatting, is well made, has some flex between the handle and racket head this is important as cheaper ones shatter when accidentally hitting walls and other surfaces. Also has no outer safety mesh that many have, this outer mesh although safer to the user can prevent larger flies from making contact with the live wires.

Despite its macho name, this is not quite as powerful as I had hoped. It seems to be well made and reasonably robust although you obviously have to avoid hitting walls, the ground or other hard objects. It runs from two C batteries (the mid-size cylindrical ones, not so often seen any more, although still widely available) which are supplied so you can get zapping straight away. It is about the size of a squash racket and a little heavier in the handle because of the batteries. It is activated by a push button on the handle which needs holding in - quite an easy action, and a good idea because it means it is automatically off unless the button is depressed. I tried it first on a large black house fly. They are surprisingly agile when pursued around the kitchen, and it is here that you must remember not to hit anything (or anyone) else. The first hit elicited a satisfying crackling noise, but the fly seemed wholly unaffected. A second hit might have slowed it down a little, but it flew out before I could try again. Second was a smaller black house fly which was felled with a single hit - very satisfyingly, it just fell out of the air. So far 1-1. A second small black house fly was felled on the third hit, although after the second it was clearly disorientated.

Weirdly, I just noticed the case (which I think is a cheap squash-racquet case) says on it "When an insect contacts the charged grill, it produces a spark that looks and sounds cool. Touching the grill is uncomfortable for humans yet cannot kill most big flies without repeated zaps" so I guess this says it all.

So far this thing has provided some amusement and exercise, but it you really want to kill things first hit, then a traditional swatter might still be better.

This little gadget is great, I hate flies coming into the house and kitchen especially. My husband always uses the old fashion 'fly swat' which leaves horrid flattened corpes for me to clear up. With the executioner pro you just swat, hear a satisfying crackle noise and it's all over! Great device.

A well made product as I knew it would be as I have The Executioner of which it is a bigger & more powerful version. It`s great & does the job well. It gives great satisfaction too when you hear `crack` but that`s my evil side coming out but rest assured it only comes out on flies, mosquitos, but definitely not on bees, spiders or moths. Don`t buy cheap alternatives as they aren`t worth it. Only buy THe Executioner or The Executioner Pro. [ASIN:B000MU2MJA The Executioner Fly Swat Wasp Bug Mosquito Swatter Zapper]

This is just so much fun!!! The big ones take a second or third whack,,, but thats all in the sport eh!!!

Andy Murray needs one of these to zap a smile on his face and a bit more oompff in his ball play!!!!!

Top product, now we just need the rain to cease and the sun to come out to commence 'Fly armaggedon' !!!

Really good.

I have bought one of these for myself and a few as presents now. My Father runs a pub and the occasional walk through the pub zapping flies makes a big difference. His one has lasted a few years already but is getting weak around the top of the handle from too many hard hits to solid surfaces, it is still zapping strong though.

Big insects like wasps and moths can take a few shots to kill but small stuff fries instantly.

It is also great fun, really shows you how good your hand to eye coordination is if the onl ones you ever catch are on the window. The annoying slow fruit flies you get in summer are the best as they are numerous and easy to kill.

Batteries last pretty much forever, my father's is still on the originals after a few years of near on daily use.

Would recommend them highly to anyone.

Batteries were simply not powerful enough so i made a small adaption where I basically wired this up to the mains with a 20 metre flex cable. Just a small problem that my psychiatrist has recommended I reduce my time stalking flies in the neighbourhood and restrict myself to the actual house instead but I open all windows and leave piles of rotting food around to attract them in. I have found it necessary to hand in my notice at work and make this my full time occupation as I believe I will eventually eliminate all flies from the planet and therefore eradicate disease and will probably be awarded an OBE. I stand still in the kitchen waiting with my left eye twitching and sleep on the floor in 4 half hour shifts so I don't miss any vital hunting time and am collecting and counting the fried corpses in empty 2 litre milk bottles. (One will hold approx 567,003 large bluebottles) logging the numbers in my notebooks - the tally is so far 507113,561 and my record is 31561 in one day.
