Even if you don't like the Final Fantasy games, you can't deny the franchise has excellent music that is far superior to all other RPG soundtracks. This soundtrack basically takes most of the main musical pieces from the franchise and adds singing. But don't think it's all going to suck once the singing is added because the female who did the singing did an excellent job.
SONG 1: PRELUDE- SCORE- 9 OUT OF 10- A rather melodic and calm version of the opening credits music that is superbly crafted and is one of the best songs in this soundtrack.
SONG 2: THE PROMISED LAND- SCORE 8.5 OUT OF 10- This song is in English, and feels rather melodic, but feels a bit lacking in some areas. No doubt it's good though and another great addition to the soundtrack.
SONG 3: MON P'TIT CHAT- SCORE 6 OUT OF 10- Ugh, the lowest point of the entire soundtrack. The song is sung in French, and reminds me why I hate being part French (Hmm... maybe that explains my arrogance). Not to mention how annoying the beginning of the song is. This song is not a total loss, but you're better off not listening to it.
SONG 4: [JAPANESE TEXT]- SCORE 9.25 OUT OF 10- A song sung in Japanese. I have no idea what this song is called, but if you want to recognize it, try to remember the intro music to Final Fantasy VI. This has somewhat of a depressing feel to it and yet has the great epic feel of Final Fantasy VI, only better.
SONG 5: [JAPANESE TEXT]- SCORE 9.5 OUT OF 10- This is one of my favorite songs on this soundtrack. It is sung in Japanese, and feels quite wonderful to listen to. It's relaxing, soothing, and quite beautiful.
SONG 6: ESPERANCA DE AMOR- SCORE: 8.5 OUT OF 10- A very bizarre song in this soundtrack. I'm not sure what language this is in, but it feels like some kind of song that you'd hear on an island or something, it's very difficult to describe.
SONG 7: VOYAGE- SCORE: 9.25 OUT OF 10- A song sung in Japanese, that feels like it goes from depressing to happy. It is composed very well and really gives you a taste of the Final Fantasy universe.
SONG 8: AU PALAIS DE VERRE- SCORE: 8 OUT OF 10- Thank God! This French song is better than the previous one. It has a good tune and feels rather relaxing and different from the other songs.
SONG 9: ONCE YOU MEET HER- SCORE: 9 OUT OF 10- This song is in English, and feels rather strange, but you eventually get into listening to it.
SONG 10: PRAY- SCORE: 9.5 OUT OF 10- This is my favorite song in this soundtrack, it starts kinda slow, but then it gets really good and is masterfully composed.
SONG 11: NAO CHORA MENINA- SCORE: 8.25 OUT OF 10- It's sung in Japanese, and yet in uses a Spanish guitar for the tune. It feels rather bizarre, but it is one of the most relaxing songs in the soundtrack.
OVERALL: 9.25 OUT OF 10- Although this song is not as good as the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children soundtrack, it's a rather relaxing soundtrack if you don't want Final Fantasy tunes to switch back and forth between piano music and hard rock. This game gives a large mix of instruments and is even bilingual and really gives you a taste of the Final Fantasy universe in a different light.
THE GOOD: Most of the songs are excellent tunes, it's bilingual, and it's relaxing.
THE BAD: Some songs take time to get used to, Song 3 is not very good.
