I too enjoyed this book very much indeed - why? because it encompasses so much information on the modality of sound and it's potential as a healing force, when utilized with intent in this way! The book is in two parts. part 1 prepares you for the sound work in part 2. After an introduction on how Lyz Cooper has come on an encouraging journey from sickness (ME) amongst other things, to present day health via her study and application of sound waves and their effect on the human form/spirit.The success of which, has led her to teach these methods across the world to date.
We are told that although these practices with sound are very ancient, they are explainable with up to date quantum physics theories. The aspect of how sound healing works through resonance makes sense of it's power as a healing agent and how the universe can be explained through musical terms also. How sound affects Brain waves and therefore consciousness is explored, together with sounds ancient origins and philosophies from different cultural backgrounds.
Commencing with exercises that not only range from identifying where the energy imbalances are, but how to monitor our energy levels and at what level of being (physical, emotional, mental or spiritual)the underlying problem (core issue)may be holding the present pattern in place, so we can find a more permanent solution to our imbalances. We are educated on our subtle anatomy of energy centres and their link with the musical scale and how we can address imbalances here too.
Part 2 Explores the application of sound healing with holistic voice therapy and the importance of breath, Himalayan/crystal singing bowls, drum therapy and the power of drum rhythm's, entrainment and self help via all of these methods. Not to mention the popular 'sonic vitamins' and what Lyz refers to as 'sonic hot chocolate'. I can honestly say now having tried most of these exercises now, they are definitely powerful! Of particular interest also, is sounds potential in helping children with learning difficulties. This book is a valuable asset to anyone, whether as an introduction to the world of sound/self development and holistic health or the seeker of knowledge as a reference book. Because it collates together a lot of information in one book, whilst being understandable and interesting at the same time.
