I was looking for a good quality blue tooth speaker for my son to use with his samsung galaxy tab 7
I had previously heard the B&W zepplin air which sounded great but was too expensive, and everything ealse seemed cheap by comparison
I had read good reviews on this models smaller brother and took a chance on the larger SFQ-031 above and am amazed at how well ballanced it sounds, especially after the recommended 3-4 hours burn in, which made quite a difference.
It may fall a little short on the B&W but not by much and is very musical. There has only been an occasional drop out with blue tooth
The combination of samsung ( android) tablet and this speaker makes a nice setup. Recommended.

Very good- but not on par with the Bose Sounddock 10 19 Jan 2012
By Sean Cavanaugh - Published on Amazon.com

I purchased this item and I want to be clear that I am very pleased with it. It is a very good purchase for the price point, and the controls and sound quality are great, with a free iphone app that really is useful. So I have no problem giving it five stars. The reason that I am writing a review is that many people considering this purchase are also considering the Bose Sounddock 10. The Bose is 250 dollars more, and then you would need a bluetooth module that is 99 dollars, so we are now comparing a product that costs 350 to one that costs 700. Obviously, the Soundfreaq is going to lose and it does. I own two Sounddock 10s and they blow this unit out of the water, as they should at twice the price. In a moderate sized office or bedroom, the Bose can deliver a low end presence that the Soundfreaq simply cannot. For some people, the price is not the issue. They want a small bluetooth unit that delivers excellent sound. For that group of people I would have to recommend the Bose Sounddock 10, and by a pretty big margin. But, if the Sounddock 10 is out of your budget for this purchase, the next best bluetooth compact all in one speaker system on the market is the Soundfreaq. By the way, the bluetooth connectivity is better with the Soundfreaq, and the controls are superior (in that it has controls, where the Bose must be controlled by the remote). If I had to do it again I would buy the Bose, because the missing bass bothers me more than the higher price. It is unusual to give 5 stars to a purchase that you would not make again, but the truth is that this is an excellent unit and better than the Bose products in the same price range. In summary, the Soundfreaq unit is perhaps 75% as good as the Bose Sounddock 10, but at only 50% of the price. I look forward to future products from Soundfreaqs, because dollar for dollar I think they are outperforming Bose.

One more great invention 19 Dec 2011
By Tech Truth Junkie - Published on Amazon.com
So last year, I bought the original Sound Freaq for my parents for Xmas and I saw how much they enjoyed it that the wife and I bought the brand new version (Sound Stack) and I can totally see why my parents loved it. It took literally 2 minutes from the time we opened the box to be playing music wirelessly from our iPad or iPhone. Great audio quality and it's just awesome someone as computer/tech illiterate as me to get this going so fast. So in short, we're big fans.

Finally a sound system that is Droid compatible 23 Nov 2011
By chckwgn - Published on Amazon.com

First thing, we don't do "I". PC and Droid compatibility is a priority when it comes to gadgets. After a year of sticking my phone in a candy dish to improve and amplify the sound from it (try it, it works), we started seeking out systems that didn't require you to dock an Idevice. We were delighted to find the new Bose Soundlink wireless speakers. It boast the ability to use blue tooth to play from any blue tooth device. Sound was ok, but the blue tooth didn't work right and you had to clear the devices from it's memory and pair your device again every time. After spending way to much time on this, back to the Bose store it went.

Now about Soundfreaq's Sound Stack. First of all, I loaded the free player app on my phone before I even got the speaker system. Easy to use, the app plays your music and seamlessly interacts with you music files. My speakers arrived and it does everything is says and the sound is amazing. It plays a lot louder than I thought it would. Blows that little Bose unit away! I love that it has FM radio, aux input and even a USB port to charge my droid. Blue tooth works exactly as is it should. I paired up my phone and then my wife's and it easily connects back and forth from either phone. It does this through the soundfreaq app which controls your blue tooth settings. This is important as you don't have to go to your phone settings to connect your device.
Sound Stack also has a remote control that not only controls the speaker but also my phone as far as moving back and forth on the play list. The only thing I've noticed that could be better, is that the Soundfreaq app does control Pandora. You have to run the Pandora app separately. No big deal. I'm sure the Soundfreaq people will have a update for that in the future. All in all I paid a hundred bucks more then the bose system but this one not only works but does so much more. I forgot to mention, yes it has an I dock with a cover that conceals it. It is universally compatible in a sea of apple only music players.

Bang for my Buck! 19 Jan 2012
By Junji - Published on Amazon.com
Over the weekend, I finally craved into my lustful desire of buying the Sound Freaq Sound Stack over at Digital Hub V-Mall. I've been coming to the store quite a number of times trying out its little brother, the Sound Step. Having to link via Bluetooth in the store was quite an experience that was bittersweet because every time I cam home empty handed. Not this time and not anymore less, I was lured into buying the Sound Stack.

Out of the box, the design of the speakers is very minimalist in nature. Just a simple black box with a dock for the iPod/iPad/iPhone in front. A few buttons that will allow you to control the source, volume, playback, UQ3 button (enhances stereo separation) and power is out in front. Small light indicators just below the left of the dock shows the current music source. At the back, there are ports for aux in, optical in, USB port, FM antenna (for the US version), and dc in. The power cords come in the US and Euro versions. A remote control is also included with the same buttons you have on the dock. The footprint is about 17" x 7", relatively small which can be placed into any small table or cabinet.

Set-up was a breeze. I just plugged it in and put my iPhone on the dock. A message would alert you if you would like to download an app for a remote. I clicked on "no" but would later download the app (hadn't used it because the remote the came with it is enough for me. Btw, there is also an android app). Bluetooth connection was easy too. The Macbook Air, as well as my IOS devices, was able to detect it and the range was good enough (rated at at least 30m but I went as far as 50m and only beyond that was there some noticeable interference).

What amazed we was the sound output. The dual subs were quite amazing in driving the low sounds. The mids and highs were terrific even in heavy mixes. Had myself playing music from across all genre (Rock, Pop, Alternative, Classical, Jazz) and it really blew me off. The hi-hats, the shakers, plucks, were so defined and for me it can't compete with the dock I previously owned (a JBL On-Stage 400P) or the Bose SoundDock which I compared it with in the store. Try playing Crazy Love by Poco, Black Water by the Doobie Brothers, Elevation by U2, or even I Could Sing of Your Love Forever by Sonicflood and you will get what I am talking about. I can't imagine the power and the clarity coming out of this small black box (the output levels are the same both docked and Bluetooth, you can't tell the difference). Even in low volume, you could hear it cleanly, stunningly as I put it. Bang!

The only drawback I have is its quite "scary" to mount the iPad onto it. A little push could have your iPad tumbling down. I said could because I was trying to jerk it a little but it didn't fall off. Otherwise, I don't see any regrets spending that much money on this. I will have tons of hours enjoying this new toy of mine and it will be quite a while before this baby goes anywhere.

Phenomenal sound 30 Nov 2011
By gentle_reader - Published on Amazon.com

Purchased this for my very sensitive mother who hates the speakers on most modern devices like iPad. Oh and she lives abroad so needs a 220v compatible power source. This one managed to meet both needs. I tested a variety of music: classical from baroque on up, acoustic, pop, and even hip hop. I felt like I was playing in an orchestra again with the classical stuff and any singing voice sounded like maybe the singer could be alive inside the speaker. Truly a marvel and from such a compact machine to boot. Bluetooth pairing is simple and the instructions are clear. Feels expensive and controls are well laid out. I am sorry to ship this off to my mom!
