I bought one of these units to replace my previous low cost unit.
I was fed up of the cheap one not recognising SD cards correctly, the iffy buttons and the limited view of what's happening when using it. The idea is brill, have a few large SDHC memory cards and stuff them with MP3 files, easily transferring my MP3 collection from my PC/iPOD to the car.

The display on this unit is really informative, and very nicely done (you can even adjust the brightness of the backlight). There are enough buttons to be easy to use, and of a good size, but not overpower you with a huge number of small fiddly buttons.

One really nice touch, is that you can switch on your car radios RDS setting and see information about each MP3 as it plays: Track Name, Artist, MP3# etc... really handy!

I had a little difficulty saving the FM station I wanted the unit to "boot up" with (the manual seems to suggest the wrong button). [the trick is to double click the Play button once the desired FM channel is selected on the MEM page (not press MEM again)].

I tried to find a more expensive device that would be more robust, a little less quirky, much more tolerant of SD cards and had a generally "nicer/sexier" look and feel to it. I definately found what I was looking for.
It is more expensive than the "clone" and "spoon shaped" black plastic ones that have saturated the market - but it is way more reliable and a much higher quality product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for and more.. 16 Nov 2010
I was in a search for car mp3 player for a long time, but couldn't find the one that met my needs. There were three things I was looking for: able to play through aux port in my car (much clear sound compared to fm transmission), able to view song and folder name, able to resume the audiobook where I left off. Soundfly Aux does it all and more. Here are the things I like and I don't like:

Pros:

1) Beautiful design: Matches perfectly with my silver interior dash trim, actually it looks like it is part of the car.
2) Easy set-up: Plug in to the cigarette lighter, plug in the aux cable, put the SD card in and it starts to play music immediately. Although there are six buttons on the device itself, there are so many functions, so keep the manual with you until you get used to main functions.
3) Song and file info: While music is playing, you can see the song name, artist name, folder name and play time info on the screen. When you press the NAVI button, you see all the songs in the folder, then press the menu button, and you can visually go through all the folders. This is a neat option that I wasn't expecting.
4) Bookmark: This is the main function I was looking for and it is so easy with Soundfly Aux. Push and hold the play button while the music is playing and it bookmarks the exact play time. It is better to use this function just before you leave the car.
5) Contrast: It is great that there is a contrast option, I can get a much better view of the screen, when I increase the contrast during the day time.
6) Remote control: You can use all the functions with the remote. It helps a lot to keep an eye on the road.

Cons:
1) Not able to play DRM audiobooks from Audible, only mp3: I just did a google search, audible and drm, and found the necessary software for conversion, but still wish it could play natively.
2) Fast-forward is only through the remote control, so don't lose the remote.
3) Just the screen could be better looking, but I think they did it for anti glare purposes.

Apart from that, this is the only car mp3 player in the market with all the functions I wanted and I am very happy that it works as expected. Highly recommended!..

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding customer service. 7 Sep 2011
Well I can't add much to all the other 5-star reviews of this device. It's all been said and it's all true.
It works brilliantly and I'm very pleased with it.
My family and I have loaded up several SD cards and USB sticks with our own preferred music and they all play perfectly and display information on the car radio screen.
My son's i-Pod plays via the AUX-in socket - also perfectly.

What I CAN add is a review of the customer service.
Some days ago I dropped the remote in the car and yesterday when I tried to find it there was no trace.
Eventually I searched for Satechi's site and clicked on the 'Contact Support' link.
I sent a message asking if it was possible to buy a replacement remote and within a couple of hours I received a reply saying that they would send me one free of charge.

Now that's customer service!
