Suffocation have been away a long time, with their last EP released six years ago, and their last full-length album prior to Souls To Deny a whopping nine years ago. The good news is that the originators of extreme brutal technical death metal haven't lost their touch, and this album still shreds hard enough to keep the band valid in today's scene. Sadly 2nd guitarist Doug Cerrito (last seen in Hate Eternal) hasn't returned to the band, but the god news is the return of original drummer Mike Smith, whose hard-hitting blastbeats played such an important part on Effigy of the Forgotten. Full of twisted riffs, pounding blastbeats, and some serious groove (check out the massive wobbly bass guitar on the album), and a construction where the end of the album loops round to start at the beginning again, Souls to Deny is a welcome return for a key death metal band. Recommended.

I've had this album about 4 months now and I have to say it is a great album, but it is fair to say that Suffocation have seen better days. If you are a first time Suffocation buyer I would go for either 'Peirced From Within' or 'Effigy Of The Forgotten'. However if you are a true fan of the band then you simply must own this album, its fantastic! The vocals are amazing and the riffs seem to be bigger, better and more technical than ever before. Also the drumming is near perfect with loads of crisp double bass! A great buy! Very much like the very underated 'Human Waste'. Buy It Now!
